You think that we connect
That the chemistry's correct
Your words walk right through my ears
Presuming I like what I hear
And now I'm stuck in the web
You're spinning
You got me for your prey
Sorry I'm not home right now
I'm walking into spiderwebs
So leave a message
And I'll call you back
A likely story, but leave a message
And I'll call you back
You're intruding on what's mine
And you're taking up my time
Don't have the courage inside me
To tell you please let me be
Communication, a telephonic invasion
I'm planning my escape
Sorry I'm not home right now
I'm walking into spiderwebs
So leave a message
And I'll call you back
A likely story, but leave a message
And I'll call you back
And it's all your fault
I screen my phone calls
No matter who calls
I gotta screen my phone calls
Now it's gone too deep (now it's gone too deep)
You wake me in my sleep (wake me in my sleep)
My dreams become nightmares (dreams become nightmares)
'Cause you're ringing in my ears
Oh
Sorry I'm not home right now
I'm walking into spiderwebs
So leave a message
And I'll call you back
A likely story, but leave a message
And I'll call you back
And it's all your fault
I screen my phone calls
No matter, matter, matter, matter who calls
I gotta screen my phone calls
Ooh, spiderwebs
Leave a message
And I'll call you back
I'm walking into spiderwebs
So leave a message
And I'll call you back
It's all your fault
I screen my phone calls
No matter, matter, matter who calls

It's all your fault

No matter who calls
Oh
I'm walking into spiderwebs
So leave a message
And I'll call you back
I'm walking into spiderwebs
A-leave a message
And I'll call you back
Oh
It's all your fault
(I'm walking into spiderwebs)

I personally think this particular Steely Dan song sounds completely different than all in their catalogue...especially Donald Fagan's extremely female vocals.
Perhaps utilize your sync button.

Great song...great album. How come so many bands go downhill after their first album?

Loved this when it came out along with so many other Southern California ska-punk bands. A shame the genre died out so quickly!

I simply cannot stand her voice.

The best answer I heard was that the musicians had their whole lives to prepare for their first album. Perhaps they had nothing left for the second album, or maybe the muse just never showed up.
I'm intrigued by people like Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel who made pretty big changes in their musical directions. Then there are artists like the late David Bowie, who pretty much did whatever he wanted -- I think Ashes to Ashes was one of the first music videos, and that was because he wanted to present the song visually, rather than something flip like Doing A Video Was Important.

overplayed, but still warrants better than a 5.8

Hearing the intro to this song brings me back to 1995 and listening to Z100 in NYC every day as a kid. My first concert ever was the radio station's holiday concert, Jingle Ball, which that year had No Doubt, Sarah McLachlan, Shawn Colvin, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Tracy Chapman, among others...

It says that they have a common opinion about this one song. So kind of you to sweep all those "peeps" into one bin with a pejorative label. Really, who's the hater here?
All these peeps pissing and moaning about - No Doubt. I don't know who they are. As far as I know, I've never heard this before. What does that say about the haters?

And I quote Michael Stipe " Sometimes there's nothing wrong with a big, fat, pop song."
Thanks for the lift Bill!

How can a bit of Gwen do anything, but perk up your afternoon.

i haven't heard this in 15 years I would guess, and it sounds good to me. So i can at least say I like to hear this song every 15 years. I however cannot say a more frequent time interval would not change my opinion.
I realize this has been said before, but just because something is on commercial radio doesn't mean it's crap. Besides, when is the last time you heard an old No Doubt song on commercial radio? Currently all the one in my town plays is the Tim McGraw/Nelly duet.

I never heard this on RP before and then I saw it was '04 the last time this was played. Very Cool to mix it up, Bill !
Come on RP!
I know someone beat me to it, but I would still have her love child.
Hey, it's fun! and it's summertime! and it's got the word spider in it!
Kinda got my spider senses tingling.
Can't stand this band and can't stand her! Ugh.
okay this brings to mind...
WHY DID IT TAKE A FRICKEN YEAR TO HEAR ONE NO DOUBT TUNE, Bill?

Still can't particularly stand this group much.
Ah good times...
No a horrible song....not a horrible album....it's just sad to hear fodder like this on RP.
I come here to get away from this top 40 commercial cruft...
What is THIS doing on RP?
Crappy pop-lite.... what a bring down after Morcheeba
For me to poop on.
I find this is just one of those fun songs I TRY to sing along with, even though I always fail miserably.... :D

Their new album is incredibly mature. The progression between the 2nd and 3rd, and the 3rd and 4th albums is very impressive.

Gwen Stenfani must be stopped. Brazen sexuality does not equal talent-no matter what Madonna says..........
Horrible vocals.

Oh, that is SO not supposed to happen. This song should play every 10 days or so at the most. Looks like a software glitch made about a half-hour of programming repeat twice.
Many apologies.
