There's a voice in my head that drives my heel
It's my baby calling, says "I need you here"
And it's a half past four and I'm shifting gear
When she is lonely and the longing gets too much
She sends a cable coming in from above
Don't need no phone at all
We've got a thing that's called radar love
We've got a wave in the air
Radar love
The radio is playing some forgotten song
Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"
The road has got me hypnotized
And I'm speeding into a new sunrise
When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough
She sends her comfort coming in from above
We don't need no letter at all
We've got a thing that's called radar love
We've got a line in the sky
Radar love
No more speed, I'm almost there
Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care
Last car to pass, here I go
And the line of cars goes down real slow
And the radio played that forgotten song
Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"
And the newsman sang his same song
Oh, one more radar lover gone
When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough
She sends her comfort coming in from above
We don't need no letter at all
We've got a thing that's called radar love
We've got a line in the sky
We've got a thing that's called radar love
We've got a thing that's called
Radar love
Classic track. Takes me right back to stealing my dad's car, getting drunk at the local hotel and gunning the Chevy through the black velvet night. To nowhere. And back. To a good ear-bashing.
I was the guy in the Seat next to you!
Sorry but I'm just sick of this song, it's so overplayed here on the rock mix, cannot believe how much air time such a crap song gets...
Learn how to use the "Skip Button". ...and you could spare us from your drivel! A LOT of RP listeners like this tune. Thanx RP!

I agree that for most, this is it. (and it's a great one) But for me, it's Driver's Seat by Sniff 'n' the Tears
My small one man show, one can rent a driver, for substituting an ill corporate member, was named "Driver Seat", in the 80s.

Very funny, but the track more less. Hoping hearing this at Mellow Mix, f. e. .
Oh ya... the best Drrrivvvvving song ever!
Ya boyyyy!

LOL! ...as long as you are listening to it while rolling away! LOL!

IDK. I hope this is a complement! GREAT TUNE! Thanx RP!

Sounds like you were the teen rager we all wanted to be back in the day and fear now!
I had this rated at 8. What the hell was I thinking: permanent 10.

Golden Earring. Years Active: 1961 - 2021!!!!!!

Junior High night at the roller rink was where I 1st heard this amazing song, and I love how it still sounds kickass after all this time!
Sadly, my childhood roller rink in Everett just closed down for new retailers to take its place. But I can still remember hearing great tunes there from my childhood (think MJ, Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Billy Idol,, etc)
Long Live RP and any remaining roller rinks!!
An absolute Classic in ‘my time’ (early 70s) - and still is!
18, and I like it...
or love it
either one
both
Oh ya... the best Drrrivvvvving song ever!
Ya boyyyy!
Very very.... very true my friends!
Followed closely, of course, by Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell."

Riders on the storm for those rainy drives?
My gosh...this is what RnR should sound like

"If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much!"
Golden Earring, Focus, 2Unlimited and The Smurfs.

Stupid 7 POINTLESS......

Fans prepare a tribute to Golden Earring, the rock band that unexpectedly ceased to exist due to health problems of guitarist George Kooymans (the man on the right).
The intention is to have Radar Love sound from as many speakers as possible on 11 March, the day on which Kooymans turns 73.
In February, 2021, Kooymans announced that he was suffering from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and would retire. Shortly afterward, Golden Earring announced they would disband.[3]
After 60(!) years of activity. What a run. Best of luck to George.
What I'm saying is, good on Golden Earring for exploding through a massive hole in Rock and Roll, twice, and absolutely killing it.
God I hope you're not my kid...

HaHa, this made me lough so much. Yesterday a colleague sent me this funny YouTube video from Peter Kay called Misheard Lyrics
Happens to all of us I guess :)

I love this song, and I don't think the lads would be offended by my goofy quip. Cheers, palatin8.
Cheers, you're right.

2.000 drummers on the beach
The guitarist and the bassplayer are from the original line up from 1962. Since then there were 3 different drummers, and 2 singers, an additional guitarist and a keyboard player. The oldest existing rock band with original members is ZZ Top, since 1969.
Thanks for clarification. Even me is too young, it seems. Can't remember anything before Barry and Cesar were there, thought they always have been.
Wow!! I always thought is was reveille is comin on strong until now!!! LOL!!
aww crap, I always thought it was 'graduu lee it's coming on strong'

What what what?!

Ya boyyyy!
I wouldn't say that. I can think of many other tracks that leave this at the highway entrance but I can see why you'd proclaim this the king of the drivies.
On my initial hearing many years ago, I misheard. I thought he sang 'nude sunrise.' Of course, that was a bit titillating but totally senseless.
I've heard this a zillion times. Of course it was an FM staple. It's never too old because it's always been unusual and unique and at least it wasn't another another another torture session of Rocket Piano Space Oditty Man .

If only we were so lucky!! I like these classic rock gems, and having stopped listening to FM radio for the last 12 months, hearing them on RP once in awhile is OK with me. I've rated this one a 9 and I'm not looking behind!! LLRP!!
My mind had already drifted into this song form Chris Isaak's "Gone Ridin"...

Still sounds good today to my ears :)

Do you collect Sears Catalogs Proclivities? holy smokes, look it's a Hazard County boy and the mystery-genus 70's Show kid

It was long ago, my love, my radar love was in front of Roman St. Basilica. The other day, she was near Pyrenees, and needed some help I guess. Local news said it was around 4 AM, Last night she came as the friendly old lady from local church. She was volunteering at school cross-walk-talk.Guiding the kids safely home.
One of these days, perhaps, I will understand your posts. Until then, I will enjoy their cryptic qualities and mull over the potential interpretations with good Scotch whisky.
Yes. Both great albums. Have the British vinyl pressing of Moontan. This version sounds a little off from what my ears are used to.
Got to see them when they toured for Switch. A most excellent show in a small hall, the Allen Theatre in Cleveland.
The European version of the cover.

The joys of low-fi, amplitude modulation radio.
It rocks. Just wishing it was new to me.

This is one of those.
Perfect
Moontan - some other good material from Golden Earring. Worth a look and maybe a play on RP, Bill?

Yes!
Oh, puh-leez.
From the "I'm too cool for anything that's popular" school of criticism.
This song rawks!
Cranked way up to the dismay of my teenage sons!
