I actually like the tune, kid-choir and all, but really, what in the great wide open Hell does "staging the plaguing of the raised platform" mean? I suspect the joke is on me for even bothering to wonder.
REDEYESPY hit the nail on the head. Tony Millionaire (Maakies creator https://maakies.com/ ) has long parodied "little kids" versions of animation as the begining of the end (i.e. Muppet Babies, Tiny Toons). This is Cornershop's "wee cornershop kiddies" swan song. Drinky Crow says "KILL IT! KILL IT DEAD!"
This is one goofy, stupid song! Appropriate for Nicolodean maybe but not Paradise! :P
It's still crud, but I'm finding it way less irritating now.
RP, it's time to shelve this one...
"Handcream.." is just a ridiculous album. This song is like some lazy bastardization of the group's own "Brimful of Asha, " (as noted in an earlier post).
"When I Was Born For the 7th Time" album was so much fun. What happened??

I've given it some thought...maybe it's referring to a political platform which they're attempting to destroy through bio-warfare? I'm all for nonsense, if it's well done, intelligent, witty nonsense. This song just fails to appeal to me on so many levels...

My wife and I were in London (photo album) a year ago and hearing this makes me upset all over again. Cornershop were playing the night before we left and instead of going to the show, we went out and had beers with friends. Like we couldn't do both? Hmph. This song has no redeeming qualities for me. Funny how some dweeby songs seem to appeal and others don't. This is one that doesn't. I guess that's what makes RP so interesting and worth listening to.

The only reason I can understand for this to be in the rotation after the remarks it has garnered is - payola. Sorry, Bill, somebody had to suggest it.

I think this is a pretty cool song. Kind of reminds me a bit of The Clash in some of their more frivolous moods. And it has to be taken with the same grain of salt like "Lost in the Supermarket" and such.

Tjinder Singh is the sparkplug for the group and is of Punjabi heritage. In theory their eclectic sounds are Punjabi folk music and British Pop and a broad mix of other stuff.
I like this song...heard it on KCRW a few months ago, I think the guy singing said he was British and also throws in some type of Pakistani language.
