Great words, useless music--5.

Seems like there are lot of Austin people on RP.

This sounds like the guy in college who used to play his out-of-tune guitar drunk, singing lame college-boy lyrics in the dorm hallway and had to be chased away...I think we're in a rut here with last three songs.

this is very similar to music from Pat McCurdy.

"I need a leader who doesn't start horrible wars," would be lyric in Dumbya's time. Pretty good song. I love RP!
And a lyric for Bill Clinton (remember him?): "I need a President that doesn't sleep with whores" Witty song. A lot more fun than that awful "It's a Hit" song by that Rilo Kiley (or whatever her name was)that was in the heavy rotation for awhile. Thanks.
Wow. Very cool. Somewhat like an American Billy Bragg. Hope his career is as long and as honest.

"I Need a pony and a boat" -- is this a tip of the hat to Lyle Lovett or some common theme I've been missing all these years?
That's what I thought of too. I'm thinking probably the tipping hat thing but does anyone have ideas?
Wow, Stuart on RP, I wasn't expecting that today. Thanks!
comparisons are always invidious, but he does sound a lot like Richard Thompson to my aged ears
I swear I've heard this song performed better by someone else.

Would be a good segue to Cake's Short Jacket tune...
HA HA. It just so happens, on this play-list, "Cracker" was next with, "I want everything".

I need to think before I vote. I need a pet that never dies. Both true, I think.

I tried uploading some other tracks, and they were rejected. I have had the pleasure of seeing Stuart perform a couple times. The energy he emits while on stage is transcendant. Excellent guitarist and songwriter! Let me know if you want me to upload some frsh tracks, I've got them.
Funny. And his voice reminds me of some singer/songwriter from the 70's, but the brain cells with any more details than that also didn't make it out of the 80's. "It's better to burn out than to fade away" -Neil Young
"I need a leader who doesn't start horrible wars," would be lyric in Dumbya's time. Pretty good song. I love RP!
Thanks! Another new artist I hadn't heard before and love it!
Thanks for a bit of Stu!! He is awesome. Thanks!!
Bought this CD (yes, I clicked on the Amazon link from RP). Verrrry amusing. C'mon, Bill, play "Mermaids" off the same CD!

If this station would ever accept some of his good cuts I uploaded you could see his talent.

He's saying that it should be the case that artists could get by on their talent alone, but that Davis probably won't achieve widespread success, and so will need his sense of humor to deal with the way the world is. I hope that helps clear things up. :)

Witty. Yes, witty. I don\'t see this as a good thing.
this song is fun to listen to, both in music and in the lyrics.
