Queen—definitely, mixed with AC/DC(the opening riffs of "Black Shuck" sound like Bon Scott era) and others. I play the crap out of this cd on my long drives down to school in Ft. Lauderdale. To say it RAAWWWKKKS is an understatement! Cheeky, ear-splitting, down and dirty, doesn't take itself at all seriously. Love it.
I like the idea that one band evokes Queen, AC/DC, and The Cure in one go

I don't really like the music, but love the cheese!
...this is the closest ever that i've heard another vocalist come to robert smith...
These guys never fail to get a chuckle out of me. Fun, it's what rock n' roll should be. Not exactly a favorite but I can certainly see their merit.
oh boy. this is the worst song I've ever heard by the Cure. 3.
Talk about cheesy...yuck.

I'm so excited to hear this song on RP! What bands would you compare The Darkness to?

Probably Queen, the Scorpions and a little Aerosmith. These guys seriously rock. I have the album - it's incredible. I realise it's a little 70s rockish and somewhat cheesy, but they've made rock and roll fun again.
Brian May is one of their fans, and they owe a lot to his backing. But the vocals are something else - falsetto in a decidely British accent. Maybe add some early Triumph and Hocus Pocus thrown in a blender with the above...truly unique.
