This music has no soul. Just perfect musicians.
No boundaries, just cultures…Harmony!

I saw them live a year ago at Nottingham Rock City, and the were seriously good. That act was more Afro than Celt but brilliantly cross-cultural with Scottish, Irish and African musicians. The dude with the kora was outstanding, as was the woman on uillean pipes. . At one point the band leader declared "We are Nigel Farage's worst nightmare!" - feckin' right!
Anything that gives Nigel Fartage nightmares is fine by me - and if they happen to sound like the A C S S even better!
I saw them a couple of decades ago now at a Festival in London - as you say, seriously good

I'm listening to this song with my big fat Cedar-cat snuggled in my arms. He's purring, and if I could purr, I'd be purring, too. Love this song. I love AfroCelts, and loved them when they were the Afro-Celt Sound System. Such wonderful, soothing, inspiring music...
Gotta wake my cat up so I can put my jammies on and tuck in for the night. Thanks, RP - I'll probably be listening to you all night long.

I love this group, too, but this one is a 3 to me
I love this group, and this song is a beautiful. A solid 10 for me.

Excellent!!
No matter how much I hear from these guys, I just can't get into them. This sounds like the elevator music they'd play in the waiting room at the elevator repair shop.

The beginning vocals sound like it was sung by that black slime creature (Armus) from Star Trek the Next Generation.
I would LOVE to see them live! Amazing sound.

What's a Cedar-cat?
How is it different from a normal cat?
If I didn't spend so much time away I'd let another cat move in here :-(
A Cedar-cat is twice the size of a normal cat and possesses the ability to intimidate a pit-bull into a cringe, simply by staring at it. It also tattles on everyone else and takes their seating arrangements as soon as they get up.

Sounds like restaurant music.
Very soothing....
I love the intro. It sounds so harsh and melancholic at the same time.
I am pouring coffee down my throat trying to stay sharp and the last couple of tunes are dragging me in atmospheric bliss

THE HORROR!!!!!
¿Iberia?
Anything from ACSS (My favorite musical act) gets an automatic 8. This is a good album opener I suppose, but there are better tracks on the disc. "Ayub's Song", "Deep Channel" and "Rise Above It" being my favorites on the disc.

I'm a fan of this bunch, mainly for their sheer energy and vibrancy, but this sounds like chill-out trance rather than the drum-bashing foot-stomping stuff that's their usual fare. I'm afraid this one's not growing on me. I prefer it when their music lives up to the band name, whereas this is generic chill-out stuff. Pleasant enough, but in one ear and out the other...

Was in San Francisco years ago with the in-laws. My mother-in-law, bless her sheltered little heart, pointed at an adult movie marquee and said "Isn't that mispelled?" : Screwples.
We nearly choked but didn't have the heart to try and explain it to her.
bit too much yodeling for me
Nice and never heard before! Seal would like it too, I guess...

Only on earth (and then, only in some places). This is the Al Gore spelling.

I get scared when there's no music. Like it okay once in a while.

Bingo (relating to the uphill bike climb). But also for long road trips in the countryside.
Stays fresh with me tho if I limit my exposure to once every other month or so.
I can't take more of this AC shit! PLEACE MAKE IT STOP BILL!!!!

Good background/elevator music. It reminds me of the instrumentals on Pink Floyd's first non-Roger Waters LP "A Momentary Lapse of Reason"---good but not great.
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HERE!
I WILL ALWAYS LOOK OUT FROM BEHIND THESE COLD EYES!
I wanted to like these guys, I think their concept is quite original. This tune is just too creepy, others sound too angry. Maybe if I heard a more upbeat selection from them I would like it, but as far as what I have heard from them so far... pass

And they just added the "Sound System" back for their latest (5th) release. See AMG for one person's opinion.
I still think that "Seed" is their best structured CD yet. The songs have a way of flowing into each other far better than before.
And, yes, that's Jesse Cook on guitar.
Sounds like Mike Oldfield, Carlos Santana, and Clannad having a jam session.

Okay, someone finally did it. I laughed out loud when I read this. Very cute.
Anyway, I found this song grew on my as the energy patiently built through the course of the song.

Despite all previous negative comments, I love this band. Much more interesting and varied than Enigma, which wore out it's welcome by 1993.
I agree, their 1st (and 2nd) album: awesome, but the 3rd more of the same this one, however, not too bad, not too bad at all ...

HAHA! Exactly! i knew i'd heard this somewhere...
this is the lovechild of miami vice theme songs and enya... with enigma thrown into the foray. in case there is any confusion, this is in no way a compliment.

It is stuff like this that gives post-modernism a bad reputation. 'Afro-Celts', 'Cyberia'?

I used to really like the Afro-Celts and even own two albums, but they and the other sound-alike bands (KIra etc) are just too over played these days. I can only take so much of this sound, and I'm bummed that over exposure has made me sick of these guys,
I think this band is really exciting. I love their combining trance, with African rhythyms, and bagpipes. Cool.
Yet another attempt at sounding like Enigma. Once was enough.
I don't have this album...is that Jesse Cook on guitar?
Cool sound, though I thought it was going to be Bjork's "Big Time Sensuality" when it opened.

I don't know, EC. W/o NN I'm clueless.
got that peter gabriel thing going for it. not as much substance i admit, but a nice groove. i give it a 7, and would like to hear other cuts off the cd too.
These songs make me want to get up and sway to the music. I love the vocals.
\:D/
I bet this song would be more interesting if I were hearing and seeing it performed live.
There are definately some better cuts on this album, including the title song which has the Afrocelts own cool version of a Bo Diddly beat.

This song really annoys me.
I agree with previous posts - new-age/world/psuedo-collins
If I could have given it a zero I would have.
This song takes a long time in going nowhere. Kinda has that unfortunate Stingesque need to sound vaguely like world music, while remaining appealing to the Phil Collins set. Haven't much liked their other songs for that matter.
Love this cut. Couldn't find lyrics on-line, but did find out that the gypsy guitar is Jesse Cook. The excellence of their collaberators is a great reflection on this band.
whenever this band is played on RP, i find myself trying to change the station - to RP.
it's just too boring. loads jumbled "world" sounds, but not much substance, imho.
this song is so awesome. i'm not sure why - but i love it to pieces.
I heard the first few notes, and thought - "Can't rate this better than a 5. Flipped to the RP site to find it is AfroCelts, which I've liked before. Sooo, I wait to hear it through, and I still must rate it a 5 at best.
