Ask Kenneth.
Sorry, couldn't resist!

Just revisited RP for the first time years. Life gets in the way and we forget the joys of times gone by. I still remember seeing MC in Athens, GA while in college back in '82. Hence, the R.E.M reference above.
Fooled me -- I heard Neil Finn!! 😀 (And I thought I heard "Cinnamon Girl" too! 😆🤦‍♂️ )
Just a few songs ago (4/1/22) Bill played Lyle Lovett - If I Had a Boat. A jillion years ago I saw Marshall Crenshaw open for Lyle Lovett in a bookstore in SoHo and it was one of the best shows I ever saw. There were maybe 50 people there. It was so intimate and the music was brilliant.
If only we'd met when I was 12...have been struggling to be a hopeful once since! Work in progress as noted by my chosen name
And in the end the cynical girl has no interest what so ever in him...

This song needs to be played later then 2004. Absolute classic from a fine songwriter/performer. Saw Marshall and the band at UGA's Memorial Hall in '82. What a memorable, jaw dropping performance. To be young again.....*sigh.*

I saw him at the 688 Club in Atlanta, probably the same week. Hard to describe how amazing that show was!  Still remember ti today.
Yeah, great, great album.  Someday, Someway is most likely my favorite on this album.

I keep hearing "cinnamon girl", maybe he should see Neil.
Haven't heard this in years. So good still.
A favorite album stuffed from end to end with vastly under-rated exquisite pieces. His story is fantastic and his body of work is rock solid. Yep, a big fan here!
Thanks to WHFS for turning me on to MC...

It's now 10 years later, and we're still waiting for it to hit again.

Where's the love for "Cynical Girl"?
