I was fortunate enough to work on the Who Quadrophenia shows at the Garden in the mid 90's.  She and her band opened both nights and they did the standards from this album, no problem.  But they rolled in the first day and their sound check turned into a workout for the sound system that the Who had spec'd.  just them and me and a few dozen other people.  I still get shivers thining about it.

Your comment is insulting, mostly to yourself. Osborne is a versatile and talented artist. I saw her at Jazz Alley the day after Prince died. She filled her entire set with Prince songs, despite the fact that she had never performed or even learned them before. Just amazing.

Really really happy to hear her (various songs) played here pretty often. Sometimes I feel like she had dropped off the face of the earth. She knows what to sing, backed by whom, and has really hit her stride.

Osborne is basically a blues singer, and it's been hard for her to find material that shows off her talents without going totally into a blues mode. I think this song is a good vehicle. I like it.

This album is still a great listen.....except for "God One of Us".  Still don't like that song, but of course, that is the big pop hit, so she will forever be remembered for it.  I just downloaded her new album the other day and haven't listened to it yet, I'll get on that now.

I can't listen to Fiona Apple because she is ALWAYS off pitch. Joan bends the notes on purpose and her emotional pitch is perfect.

Love it.  But it is more of a late night track, rather than a sunny morning toon.

Great contained playing and fitting vocals that suit the overall feel of the track. Maybe some here would prefer some software-enchanced over-emotive vibrato warbling (you know the Pariah Carey, Christine Aquilira way) with the neck veins standing up to show FULL performance.  Me, i prefer the restraint.
