Little sister don't you worry about a thing today
Take the heat from the sun
Little sister
I know that everything is not ok
But you're like honey on my tongue

True love never can be rent
But only true love can keep beauty innocent

I could never take a chance
Of losing love to find romance
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman
No I could never take a chance
'Cos I could never understand
The mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

You can run from love
And if it's really love it will find you
Catch you by the heel
But you can't be numb for love
The only pain is to feel nothing at all
How can I hurt when I'm holding you?

I could never take a chance
Of losing love to find romance
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

And you're the one, there's no-one else
You make me want to lose myself
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

Brown eyed girl across the street
On rue Saint Divine
I thought this is the one for me
But she was already mine
You were already mine...

Little sister
I've been sleeping in the street again
Like a stray dog
Little sister
I've been trying to feel complete again
But you're gone and so is God

The soul needs beauty for a soul mate
When the soul wants... the soul waits ...

No I could never take a chance
On losing love to find romance
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

For love and faith and sex and fear
And all the things that keep us here
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

How can I hurt when I'm holding you?

There's something about digital U2 I that leaves me cold. When they got away from analog tape (I think it was All That You Can't Leave Behind that was their first digitally recorded record??). But then again, I could be wrong. :?: :-k
ooo ... here's a brilliant lyric: i could never take a chance of losing love to find romance ... another computer-generated gem. oh, don't forget: the only pain is to feel nothing at all. this is soap opera theme music. the mighty fall hard. (and they were mighty mighty.)

What? No "All U2 sucks" comment on this one from Tux yet? He must be slipping.
No. Nor sleeping. Just waited for a comment to reply to, and this one is as good as any. And looking at your post, my message is clear by now :) And again "U2" doesn't suck, but their `music' does. I don't know Bono and his comrades well enough to be able to say they suck, but I can say that they can't make music.

Meh. I was non-plussed by this. There's just no spark here. It sounded like Tears for Fears' "Goodnight Song" with some "Unforgettable Fire"-esque strings thrown in. I'm a longtime U2 fan, and saw them play back in 1985. I'll have to hear the entire disc to get a feel for it. I liked that other song I heard the other day, though, "City of Blinding Lights". I wasn't a fan of "All That You Can't". I'm probably one of the few that think "POP" was much more musically inventive than anything they've done since, even though it got crap reviews.
I liked Pop. :iamwith: ;)
Well, I have been listening to the whole album for a little while and can say that there are 3 songs I really like from this album. A man and a Woman, I love it! though someone mentioned that it sounds like some James Bond song... Yes, I admit it, it reminds me of a song, but I don't know which :? Love & Peace or Else: Wow! :nodhead: This was the only track that trapped me at the first play, I really liked that raw sound. City of Blinding lights: A really nice tune! This is not an amazing CD, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Marie Mexico City
Saw them live last tour, and they were great....BUT....I'm wondering if Bono could ever sound like this live. He's "using" the crackle in his voice a lot in this one. That's what makes his voice special (to me), and this one sounds forced.
Hmm... interesting to hear others' impressions of this album. I have to say that I like this better than much of U2's output since the 80's. While I loved Joshua Tree, the Eno/Lanois albums have not done it for me. This new album is a return to the U2 I loved. Steve Lillywhite seems always to capture the soul of this band, and on this outing (the album more than this particular song) gets Bono to sing again.
There was a lot of talk this fall that Pedro had...well...lost his fastball, getting by on guile and trickery, going deep in counts to a lot of hitters, giving up cheap broken bat hits when in the past he would have just blown 'em away. Pedro's got a ring though. What's the connection? This is what it's like to lose your fastball.
I would have to say that this does nada for me as well. Vertigo is crappy compared to other stuff I've heard. I'm not a hardcore U2 fan, but songs like "Elevation" are hard to top. That was the one that really got my attention. I just thought all my friends were freaks for liking them so much.

Wasn't there a James Bond song years ago that sounded a lot like this?
I was thinking same thing, but can't remember which bond film. It does have that smoke and silohette thing going on though.

None of the new stuff does jack for me.
Me neither, dude - as far as I'm concerned, this one's a mulligan. But you get only one mulligan.

Limp? Are we listening to the same album? "Vertigo" is the most (um ... what's the opposite of limp?) track U2 has recorded in a long time.
Opposite of limp? That would be stiff. Yes, the tunes on this new CD qualify as stiff.

I think I have to admit to myself that I'm just not a U2 fan anymore. Loved everything from Unforgettable Fire to Pop, Liked "Wild Honey" on the last album, but that's it... None of the new stuff does jack for me. Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted....
i don't know - i mean, i'm a long-time U2 fan, and i even enjoyed that All That You Can't Leave Behind album from a few years back... but everthing that i've heard from this new album just sounds completely limp so far. i'll have to give it some more listens...
Not as annoying as the two others from this CD that Bill played earlier today. EDIT: ok, 2 days later, it's just as annoying as the others.
Heard this driving home today..... great song!
