Get swept out in the rip tide
Where part of me wants to lie
'neath the waves of sorrow and tears
Sink to the bottom and linger there
The rest of my tears
Walk amongst the mossy bones
Of my fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers
Feel their blood flow Lost sometime ago
Now I'm stranded on the mountain's edge
And there's only one way back down...
And down I go
Into the ground where the bad seeds are sown luck's gone and there's no more breaks
Just the ground beneath that shakes and gives way
Swallowed up whole, there ain't much now I can pull
I often wonder at those who come to an ecletic station known for world music then complaining about all the different world music it plays.
I think the most important words in the statement are "Mexican" not "music". The comment complains it all sounds alike. Since Latinex music includes a large range of styles, it's safe to say it's not the music he reserves the disdain for but"mexican."
Even RP is not a completely safe place from those who wish to promote an ideology rather than listen to great music.

Even I know not to call a New Zealander an Australian. Sorts of like saying a Canadian is just an American.
I had a Irish friend and we were at a bike race when a couple nice looking young ladies were hiking and stopped and were talking to us. One had a very charming accent and my friend turn on the Irish charm and says "So, what part of Australia might you be from"? She stares dagger through him and answers "And what part of ENGLAND, might you be from"?
Yeah, I know. The whole thing was tongue-in-cheek, an overreaction chock full of incorrect facts & misguided notions, like many sensational internet headlines. I thought the "Bowling Green" reference would make it obvious, but that is the essence of Poe's Law ("If you submit a satiric item without this symbol [;-)], no matter how obvious the satire is to you, do not be surprised if people take it seriously.") Too clever for my own good.

Can't find the Calexico live album anywhere. Ah well.
Still love the band though.

Are you thinking of "The Third Man"? That movie and its chase scene through the sewers took place in Vienna. Orson Welles was in "Touch of Evil" as a corrupt sheriff from Texas working a case in Tijuana and I don't recall his character running in sewers—way too fat for that.
He's thinking of the re-make filmed by Robert Rodriguez

I can only reply with a "Me too"
Such a good live cut....
Tickets purchased to see them in Bristol in a couple of weeks - anticipation building!
I too have been wondering where to get this recording. I've been blown away by this superb performance of Minas de Cobre that I heard right here on RP! I've Googled a few times but couldn't really find anything about this recording. I gave it another try last night, and — success!! I'm about halfway through listening to it and it does not disappoint! Great setlist, great performance, and a great recording too — and it's FREE!
Here is the download link — They have it in a number of formats; the "Lossless ZIP" option is in FLAC format (nearly 700 MB but worth it).
Nice way to wake me up after Sinnead O'Connor covering 'Chiquitta' - not in a good way
Yes, very nice!
GRRRRRRRREAT!!
Whew, the ABBA is over. Now this I like. 8.
Wait, is that El Mariachi Antonio jumping the compound wall with his guitar case assault rifle?
Nice fun music.
I'd never heard these guys before discovering RP either. Now I'm a big fan. I hope they come to my neck of the woods soon — I'd love to experience their music live & in person.
Couldn't resist. Isn't this about the time Hiatt wades in with "Perfectly Good Guitar?"
I still try to hit my own ass with my feet 'cause I missed them last winter here in Hannover/Germany.
BTW: If anyone is interested in the recording of this concert. It can be found at archive.org for a free and legal download!
Excellent tip. I had forgotten about this site: thousands of free tune and concert downloads.

Nope, but it sure would fit in there.
Would you like some queso with that whine?

Ironically, a Canadian IS an American :-)
Canada is in America, just like Mexico, Argentina and lots of other countries.
You still made a good point, though. I agree.
