Whoah! I haven't  been on RadioParadise in about 2 years (been supporting my local college station WXPN by listening at work lately — very similar music philosophy), then I see this!!!! Posted by Carol herself!

It was ME that uploaded "In a Dream" back in 2005!

Story behind this unlocked gem: I worked a large city newspaper for 10 years, and the music critics would leave tons of review CD's out on the filing cabinets in the newsroom after they listened to them (or I guess if they didn't have time to listen to all of them). I guess they weren't really supposed to keep them ethically, but there wasn't a practical way of returning them to the labels either, so they just tossed them. I would go out each week and gather up handfuls of these CD's, and every once and a while I would take a listen to one of them and find a gem.

This was one one of those gems!

Glad to see that I may done a very small part to help out the career of musician. Maybe I can do a little good in the world when I ain't being a curmudgeon.

Yay, WXPN! I assume you're referring to U Penn's station. Always a favorite of mine, having grown up and lived in and around Philly. Great track. Thanks.
Catchy
Yowsah!

I like it.  A bit Floydy at the beginning, but she really takes it in a different, unexpected direction.  Nice bass work too.

That chord change sounds like its taken directly from Moody Blues' A Question of Balance which is a little annoying cos I don't really like Moody Blues but I like this..

Reminded me of:

I see your hair is burnin'
Hills are filled with fire
If they say I never loved you
You know they are a liar

A little reminiscent of Patty Griffin or Lucinda Williams.  Anyone else hear it?
Tori Whatsername called, she wants her lilting, wavering ,high pitched wailing back!

Oh.

Not her....sorry, my bad.
I shouldn't hold that against Carol, in fact, I shouldn't hold anything against her, she sues easy.
7 overall (bib).
Whoa, the segue from "Tomorrow Never Knows" was flawless - it's the exact same chord on the bells that runs throughout the previous tune. Bloody brilliant. Oh, and a cool tune in its own right.

The voice in Animal Logic belongs to Deborah Holland....just pulled the CD off the shelf. I need to dust it off and listen to it shortly.
Doesn't she teach voice at UCLA?
Serves you right if you're listening to enough Moody Blues that you even notice that NoEnzLefttoSplit wrote:

I had a big 'LOL' when this started. And it continued until the song finished.

Ouch.. pains my ears.

At first I thought it was Madonna... Not too bad though.
Same here! I like Madonna; Carol's voice is a bit creamier, though, I think. Very nice. 7

MY exact thought. A very good thing. Great vocals. No not Kate Bush, Debbie Holland's voice was way smoother. Like Carol's. Why is it that the scot lassies' voices tend to sound so fluid and almost instrumental like this one? I'm thinking Sinead Lohan, the other Sinead, and now Carol.
Eddi Reader,Maggie Bell,Maggie Reilly,Mary Kiani and even Lulu(Yes,she really can sing)are all worth checking out. I couldn't believe it when I powered up the PC and Carol was on RP.It's such a small world now.

Carol: Are you near Bob Dylan's newly acquired homestead near Nethy Bridge in Strathspey?
Ooh, I doubt it - going by her diary ((click here)) it looks like she lives down in the Central Belt, so Nethy Bridge would be a good few hours drive from the metropolis.
At first I thought it was Madonna... Not too bad though.

Doesn't this sound like ANIMAL LOGIC, that band with Stanley Clarke, Stewart Copeland and Kate Bush? It sounds great, IMO. Buying the record now.

Carol Laula Naked is an album for all to own. I recommend it highly. I picked it up when I lived in England and it is her best work (humble writers opinion). More Carol please.
Good Lord...what a rush!...More Carol Please
How cool is that, to have the artist herself posting on this site?

very nice, bill finds yet another gem to treat us to.
This is why I like Radio Paradise - I've never heard of Carol Laula before, but I'm really liking this....

Scary - haunted by the ghost of Tori Amos!

I agree! Who is she? I note the track's dated 1994. There's no AMG entry. Off to Google I suppose... Oops, and here's the Stereophonics' "Dakota" taking up the beat where she left off..
Yes, actually there *is* an AMG entry (at least for the album) - looking at it now. Mayhaps you mistyped her name...
Not Kate Bush in Animal Logic, but Deborah Holland. And I like Carol Laula much better than Animal Logic (even though I love the components of that band)...
