This is the sound of one voice
One spirit, one voice
The sound of one who makes a choice
This is the sound of one voice
This is the sound of voices two
The sound of me singing with you
Helping each other to make it through
This is the sound of voices two
This is the sound of voices three
Singing together in harmony
Surrendering to the mystery
This is the sound of voices three
This is the sound of all of us
Singing with love and the will to trust
Leave the rest behind it will turn to dust
This is the sound of all of us
This is the sound of one voice
One people, one voice
A song for every one of us
This is the sound of one voice

I discovered the Jennys with this very song on RP! I’ve now seen them multiple times live (amazing) and enjoy their whole catalog. Been introduced to such great music through this station. 😊

Saw the Jennys this last weekend at Live Oak Music Festival in Central California. They had a workshop that was a highlight of the weekend for me. They sang One Voice and then after finishing broke down the parts of the harmony A Capella and each sang their chorus part solo. Then they added the parts together 1, then 1+2, then 1+2+3. Truly the essence of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

Wail on Jennys!

Perfect.

Please stop this. Sappy harmonies. Sappy words. They note their repetitiveness. Is "all of us" the end of all of them? No......
Don't care if they're from Mars: they sing as pretty as any vocal-centrics in the past 50 years. Yes, very like my beloved Dixie Chicks.

This cover art is the wallpaper for my 'puter. Makes it hard to find the icons... but who cares??

Musically not bad, but the lyrics?
I still love this cd and this song is one of my favorites.
Wonderful song! If I were a DJ, this would be on my station.

The WJs hail from Winnipeg, Manitoba - a province frequently and currently ruled by (democratic) socialists. In fact my current Member of the provincial Legislative Assembly is a member of British Columbia's New Democratic Party and he's doing a great job - though (or perhaps because) he is gay and just 27 years of age!
Great song. Truly beautiful.
Unfortunately recent changes in how our (USA) government views its role in the lives of Americans has made me look at things with slanted eyes. When before I would have just said it was a beautiful song, now I say: beautiful song... damn socialists.

Ahh, another song that is in constant rotation in my personal playlist. I can't tell if Bill's been stealing my music or if I've been stealing his.
gives me goosebumps ...

This is the result of living in Winnipeg - 6 months of winter, then 6 months of black flies and mosquitos - will force you inside to play music and learn to sing
beautiful~ yet another great band RP has introduced me to. Thanks Bil!!
sounds like sesame street
Is it true that you haven't played this for 3 years?
I love these guys! Too bad they don't tour out here in California!! Thanks for playing them.
The Jenny's played a live show for us here at Bethel College last year. They are as great live as they are recorded. They are also very humble and personal. Great people and great music!
Perfect

I really.. REALLY did try to like this song.
Something is lacking.
May I suggest therapy?
They did this piece, a capella, sans mike, in Melbourne at the Artery earlier this year.
Delicate, spellbinding, a treat.
And normally I don't like this genre.
Pretty, pretty, pretty!
* I feel you. ... I absolutely love Arlington.
Very lovely young women who put on an engaging show.
anyone remember happy upbeat music? ggez
didnt know them from Canada, now i like them more.
Fall asleep to it most every night, lately.

Winnipeg (Manitoba, for those who don't know the Canadian province it is in) musicians are wonderful, right Neil Young and Randy (BTO) Bachman?
Well, you're half right. :)
The voices have a healing quality! I guess I have to get this CD too. As to the guy below to whose eyes it brings tears, good for you! I echo all the kudos below!
I thought Bill introduced this as "Waylon Jennings" so I was a little surprised when I heard the 'Jennys come in singing.
Next to their song 'Arlington', this is my favorite song of all times. Period.
Pure bliss. One of my favorite CD purchases of last year.
When I saw these terrific girls live at Old Town School in chicago and bought their CD, I made sure they knew that I heard them first on RP.
Simply beautiful.
Very nice song. I like it's simplicity and directness and the vocals are just heavenly.
There's a purity to it that always makes me stop whatever I'm doing just to listen.

I have seen The Jennys live 3 times. They are amazing. I usually listen to rock, but they are # 1 on my folk list!
Sweet and sublime.
Very pretty! Though I'm waiting to hear Arlington again...

What is wrong with y'all who don't think this is one of the most gorgeous songs? Shall I scratch my nails on a blackboard?

Sounds like you and I should have a drink sometime. I find I have the same response.
Oh, the voices. Simply outstanding.
I SO need to get this album....

On a more mature/calm note, I've found myself whistling this at random times. Probably due to the repetitions...

I don't think I've heard this group before, this song is great. I hope to hear more of their stuff.

I did actually laugh out loud when I read this....this is a bit precious, and coming in today's playlist is just a waif too far. Bill.. . .someone slip you a Ruffie?
What kind of a listener would give this song a 3??
If you like this song, GET THIS CD. Its all equally good--traditional, covers, and their own songs. Sublime harmonies. You won't be dissappointed. Ahhh Canada
such a pretty song...
this is what I sound like when I sing...well, in my mind, anyway!

Whoa...holy crap...calm down...wiat...you? You're going to grow ovaries? Can I charge admission and get rich off of...wait...that's gross, never mind.
Anyway, I don't care if Bill chose to play a full DAY of female vocalists...ultimately, he writes the playlist, man.
And this song is beautiful.

Beautiful
Saw them at Dawson City Folk Festival in the Yukon a few years ago . Amazing live music and wonderful people. I guess their line-up is one different (missing Cara Luft... a very good guitarist and great stage presence!). Highly recommended as a band, and for their solo work! More products of that music-rich city of Winnipeg...
What's next -- the Jenny Cashes?
Okay, I have to admit, they sound pretty good. Nice harmonies.
