Prine is (was?) a very niche artist. His country sound turned many people off before they even got through the first verse. And his subversive lyrics turned off the "country crowd" of the 60s-70s-80. Eternal thanks to Chip, my college roommate, for introducing me to the genius that is JP.

Never ceases to make me smile, with a lump in my throat.  Saddens me to see comments calling it "rubbish''.    Oh well - you can please some of the people part of the time in a rock and roll song.  Fifty million Elvis Presley fans can't be all wrong!!

I just now heard Bill passing on the incredibly sad news that John Prine died recently from the Covid scourge.

Damn. damn damn damn.
One of the brightest lights of my generation has gone out. 

I am so grateful, through tears, for this man's gentle touch upon my soul over many of the years of my life.

RIP, brother.

I played this album to death when it was first released.

I love this song.  It reminds of the "Back to the Land" movement during that period.
