This is a cover, right?
Who played the original if so.
If it is a cover, it sounds like a bad cover, and makes me want to hear what the original sounds like.
If it's not, I just think it's a waste of time.
Not realy bad, but not worth listening to.
Google found me that this could be the Cole Porter song that brought a hit to Bing Crosby and the Andrew Sisters in 1944
Frankie Laine, Lari White, and probably some others too
This is a Cole Porter tribute album.
It's nice to hear a novelty song once in a while, but I'm glad it's not in heavy rotation.
This is good song in the original, and most covers. But I really don't think this is a version worth listening to. I never thought I would have to give anything below 5 to David Byrne. But he's just got a 3!
How silly. And not in a good way.

Come on people get off of your high horses and have some fun for cryin' out loud!!!
The word for Byrne is "irrelevant", not irreverant. And while "high horse" is funny, my reaction to this song doesn't come out of snobbery. It just ain't got that swing, at least not for me.
Oh, good Lord.
Fun!
What a lark! Thoroughly enjoyable. The result of a real talent applied to a great old standard.

on this on I like a the background accorden but the drums are a bit much.
it's a Cole Porter song from the film "Hollywood Canteen". ella fitzgerald does a smashing rendition (that includes all of the verses, not just the chorus).
The album was a collection of Cole Porter songs done by various (then) contemporary artists, and it was originally intended to raise money to fight AIDS.
Had it on cassette and as I recall, it was a pretty good album. Haven't listened to it in years.
Tux would love it--has Bono singing Night and Day...

opps I am incorrect Cole Porter wrote it, Gene just did an excellent job of it.

So true.

There are other gems on this thing. And some real uh, stinkers. But this is not one of them.
David Byrne gets away with murder. He's so eclectic that nobody calls hims on little 'gems' like this. Must be nice, god bless him.
In my opinion, there are far better tracks off this album than this. David Byrne in his Western phase? No thanks.
Could we have the Annie Lennox song from this album: Every Time We Say Goodbye? Or how about kd lang with "So in Love" ? Someone would have to upload them, as I do not see them on the playlist. :(
I don't care for Byrne's solo work, and I consider this cover is dreadful. Nice seque into Buckwheats cover of BoBurden tho, Bill!
cool 8)
Of course it's a bit of a one-off novelty for Cole Porter, but it suited a singing cowboy okay. What it doesn't really suit is an aging has-been New York trendsetter (oh, wait a minute--Cole Porter was one of those, too!).
I respect David Byrne, but this is an unpleasant treatment of a silly song.
My favorite version of this song...
