aquí me tumbo a cantar
al compás de la vigüela
que al hombre que lo desvela
una pena extraordinaria
como el ave solitaria
con el cantar se consuela

vengan santos milagrosos
vengan todos en mi ayuda
que la lengua se me añuda
y se me turba la vista
pido a mi dios que me asista
y en esta ocasión me ayuda

aquí me tumbo a cantar
al compás de la vigüela
que al hombre que lo desvela
una pena extraordinaria
como el ave solitaria
con el cantar se consuela

I'm from argentina. This song sucks. It s a poor collage when this guys mixed tango, electronic ritm...and an impossible robotic voice put in an very old argentinian poem included in an old book (1850) called "Martin Fierro", a classic book from our folk. Sorry for this guys and sorry for my english!

Everybody has different tastes.    I think that this tune is GREAT!   Thanx RP!

The melody is VERY 12 Monkeys Theme!

Oh my god, that made me laugh. My wife and daughter came over to see what I was laughing so hard about, and I could NOT explain it to them!

Interesante, ¿no?

does anyone agree that this sucks?
I'm sure lots of people will, but I'm not one of them.
Piazzolla died and got rescurrected with a vocoder. Poor bastard.
Bill, you are a master at what you do on this radio station.

Nope.

Pigs? sheep? - anyone stranded on a 70's Floyd LP with a Frenchman playing accordion?

I am a big fan of Gotan Project, but this tends to go the boring way

I do not like the robot voices! Yuck!

No, you just can't beat that.
The image of Autobots trying to speak Italian just came to my mind... It was an entertaining image.

Indeed
It sounds unique, different, and good. I wouldn't buy it and play it all the time. However, this song playing once a day isnt bad. Some people have to try to accept things that sound just a little different to them.

Right, it's the same as in verlan. In Argentina we call it "vesre", (revés), and it's used along with Lunfardo slang. I didn't know there was something similar in French! Thanks!
Thank you so much for that. I've been wondering.
really enjoyed it ...until the robots chimed in
I was kind of digging this song...then the robots invaded. Where did they come from? And why won't they go away?
I really like this and everything I've heard by Gotan Project. The vox reminds me of the chanting the priest did during High Mass when I was a kid....
Damn Accordions always remind me of "12 Monkeys"
well, at least Stephen Hawking has that whole phsics thing to keep him going, because his music sucks.

Nice experiment from the Gotan guys. The lyrics are from the classic Argentine gaucho poem, the "Martin Fierro", by José Hernandez. The vigÌela (vee-goo-E-la) is the spanish guitar, the traditional instrument of gauchos.

It was heading for a 2 or 3, but then the female voice joined in and made it a little better. So, 5? 6, maybe? We'll see how it ends.

Good riff, but as I noted on another Gotan tune, it's a bandoneón. As someone who spends a good part of his time in both France and Argentina, I really dig Gotan Project. Most excellent.

no surprise, this song features a bandoneon, played in new tango style, like Astor Piazzolla's sound track for 12 monkeys.

I've liked their previous stuff...
