Floatin' down that old river, boy
All my worries far behind
Floatin' down that old river, boy
Leave old memories way behind

Yesterday is slowly fadin'
All my life I've been waitin'
For this time

Floatin' down that old river, boy
Leaves me feelin' good inside
Floatin' down that old river, boy
Tryin' to get to the other side

Yesterday is slowly fadin'
I've been waitin' now forever
For this ride

Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river

Floatin' down that old river, boy
All my worries far behind
Floatin' down that old river, boy
Leave old memories way behind

Yesterday is slowly fadin'
I've been waitin' now forever
For this ride

Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river

Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river
Ride the river in this boat, ride the river

We just had Byrne and Eno together, doing something to bring back (almost) both their glorious pasts.

By contrast, we now have this, two once great guitarists masturbating in their old age over a non-tune with the most banal words, repeated ad nauseum, over a bass line that sounds like a T-Rex reject, Kenny Rogers or Kool and the Gang would have had a hard job not shooting the drummer for being so dull and repetitive. And they never stop! I thought there might be a flash of genius to close with, but it's just fade to boredom...

There, I think it's out of my system! I apologise to anyone who likes these two artists, usually I do too.

You know, it's not everybody's dream to drum like Keith Moon or John Bonham (both of whom I love).  Sometimes the drummers job is to simply keep the rhythm and stay out of the way.
One of my alltime fave songs.....bump it up....or turn it up....or both!  RIP JJ.

                                                     What fun!!!

JJ Cale you have been a huge part of my life...I always know it's you on Radio Paradise. What a fine home you have here...oh and thank you for bringing along your friend Eric
 yieya - this is good stuff..{#Music}

I don't disagree with most of your sentiments, but I'm not sure what possessed you to mention Kenny Rogers and Kool & The Gang (who had some outstanding drummers) in the same sentence.

wth? no comments since 2007? Has this not been played the last 7 years?

Great guitar playing here.
I think both the voices and guitarplaying works well between this gents!
Eric Clapton !! Thanks Rebecca and Bill! What about his ingenious live version of Cocaine...?
Clapton... good stuff...
This song is played too much here and elsewhere yet it always seems fresh...

Didn't Clapton do some covers of JJ Cale when he was with Cream?
Not that I know of. He did "Cocaine" and "After Midnight" solo.
this is really a great collection. definitely worth a listen.

A very interesting combination, I wouldn't have thought of them doing a cd together, but there you are, that's the magic of music.
Clapton (and indeed everyone) has been covering him for years and years. "Lay down Sally, rest here in my arms...."
This CD is playing in my truck on "repeat continuous" for the trip from Brentwood to Music Row.

Clapton can do no wrong in my book!
Only thing missing is the fiddle.
Not a huge fan of Clapton, but this tune has a good rhythm. Diggin it.
sleep walking through the best years
No doubt they're two fine musicians, but the tune just doesn't do anything for me.
Meh.

You are oh so right. This tune is played.
"Well they call me the breeze, I keep blowin down the road".......why does this and another song they do have the same old beat and signature? Come on after 30 something years surely they could have come up with an original tune?
Dull. Clapton is grossly overrated.
This is a great Album
Received this as a gift. It's wonderful!!
I lost interest in both of these two guys, especially 'Mainstream-Slowhand', but after hearing several tracks of this album on RP I picked it up. What a great record! Check it out....
Just picked it up yesterday 1-30-07 and have played it about 6 times so far... I love it! but then I love Clapton and JJ, so I'm biased. mikedill wrote:

And you bought it, liked it, uploaded it and played it. Good on yer, Bill
This is great!
Very good production and engineering.
Haven't bought anything by JJ Cale since Naturally (1972), which is still one of my all-time favorite albums. (Shame on me!) Did he disappear for a while?

Thanks Bill! Two of the best ever- guitar heaven..my next purchase.
Kinda ... boring. OK, on a second listen, I upgraded it from 4 to 6. Love both the artists, but this track doesn't do much for me.
