Something's causing fear to fly,
Rising like a dark knight
In silence
Traffic's slow with broken boats
Heading for the sky
And I'm an island
I watched you disappear into the clouds
Swept away into another town
The world carries on without you
But nothing remains the same
I'll be lost without you
Until the last of days
The sun is in the east,
Rising for the beasts
And the beauties
If only I could tear it down,
Plant it in the ground to warm your face
I built myself a castle on the beach
Watching as it slid into the sea
The world carries on without you
But nothing remains the same
I'll be lost without you
Until the last of days
Until the last of days
Through wars and harvest moons
I will wait for you.
The world carries on without you
But nothing remains the same
I'll be lost without you
Until the last of days
Until the last of days
Rising like a dark knight
In silence
Traffic's slow with broken boats
Heading for the sky
And I'm an island

Listened to it on a louder device... and the bass lines made me pass this great song from a 7 to a 8.
Met her once - she was beautiful and funny and very gracious.

I got no problem whatsoever with these vocals. (This song is holding up surprisingly well a decade-plus after release).
To me, her vocals works with the theme of the song, missing someone you loved who died.

Quite a sad song.
Such a lovely song! Now a 10, along with Come On, Come Out.
Just went 7 -> 8. This is proper music.
Such a sweet voice! Wheres the heart emojis?

She strikes me as a capital 'A' Artist...one of those folks that exist to create...and we should all be happy for those folks...they make our dreary world a wee bit better. Thanks Alison for your music, films and whatever else is going to inspire you next...

Superb singer-songwriter. I'm too old a geezer to be gawking and talking about her looks, so I just sit back and enjoy the music.

A Tori wanna be. I can see why Bill likes it. 😉
Sounds like Vienna Teng 🤔
Accurate lyrics for grief.
okay solid 5 , neeeeeext plz
Song title reminded me of the old Nektar album "A Tab In The Ocean".
So much boring music out there, this is no exception. Lovely voice, great piano, that's all you need

I agree - alas the breathy vocalists have taken over from singers. She's good when she opens her pipes and sings, but I wish the producers would withdraw the mic from the tonsils, cut the treble boost and let us hear the voice unencumbered by the in-breaths! Lovely singing, completely ruined by distortion added during mixing.
For anyone who was curious, Alison Sudol, the lead singer of A Fine Frenzy, played the telepathic sister in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Not bad, but i miss Joss Stone in the rotation!
..touching & sweetly expressed..
A nice, mellow way to begin this rainy Oregon morning. 9

Love this! Wow, I'm glad RP found this singer.

May I remind you that you rated Antje Duvekot a 9.
We're all looking for angels. She wouldn't be successful if she didn't look all ethereal and sing all breathy, etc. The songs are banal.

This kind of song is only good when i'm feeling depressed and/or emotional. Meh.

What a lovely segue from Lazarus! She sounds a bit like Sia.
Redheads rule!
Nice enough. Her songs are engaging but wear thin after a few hearings, I've found. Looking at her seems to work longer.
tenderness....- 5 / 6.
yes, it does remind of Tori Amos but the vocal squelch is softened; still quite melo-dramatic although I'm not really aware i get into a mood craving this style of music playing in my background...must be a British thing, from the Kate Bush school of thought?
Richard Feynman and Randy Pausch.....this one's for you......
voice trapped in a glass house, sounds like Rosie Thomas

make it NICEEEE! :D
I love this song.
Bill,
As the song ended and you shared some comments on the song, I enjoyed the puppy barking in the background ;)
I bought this CD the last time I heard it here on RP. LOVE it. Well worth the money!
Sounds nothing like those two. But Sarah McLachlan, now that's a different story.

Sounds like Tory Amos, or Kate Bush, doesn't it?
Saw/heard her in concert - lousy sound system, but she does have some talent - just not enough to make her especial. Also, really bad dye job.
I like this song very much as well as Alison Sudol's sense of style.
So very promising -- and she has a lovely voice and some songwriting savvy -- but the album has no staying power. After the initial pleasure, it grows ever more annoying.
I saw them live, a few weeks ago. Very talented.

I think it's worth buying. It's been in my player since I bought it a few weeks ago and I grow to like it a bit more after each listen.

Cool. I'm excited to hear more from this CD. I'm ALMOST about to buy it. Does this reflect the rest of the CD? Any good?
If you enjoy this one and the other two songs on RP then you should certainly get the album, strong from beginning to end!
