I've adored her since my childhood in the '70s. After school, I'd come home to dance and sing in my living room all alone," I feel the earth move...under my feet..."

So in 1986, when she came to the studio my then boyfriend (now husband) ran, to cut a demo, I was speechless. Seriously, I couldn't speak.

Back then, my husband invited me to his recording sessions. I would sit on the couch reading to keep myself busy. Occasionally, I was even asked to do background vocals. Okay, once. But this day, when Carole came, I said not one word. I painted with my water colors and just listened, too afraid to say something stupid - like I usually do.

But being the friendly person she is, she came down and sat on the couch next to me, "Wow, I love your shoes!" she said, holding up the shoe I had taken off.

I was mortified. Back then, I was so broke I wore my shoes down to the nails in the heels.

Anyway, I relaxed enough to ask if I could take this photo in front of the studio with my Pentax. She's holding my husband's bass.

I love Carole.

Not bad!  But I prefer Lisa Simpson's and Bleeding Gums Murphy's version! {#Dancingbanana}
No. Please no.

One of two songs I uploaded that was immediately accepted. (the other one was by George Thorogood). Hopefully this one will get played soon. If so, I hope everyone enjoys it. Peace out.

Thanks for uploading it. It's good to hear her on RP.

I just finished reading Girls Like Us. Recommended.
the only thing that redeems this song is that it Lisa played it.
This woman is a legend. Instant 6 for her awesome talent, +1 for the pure nostalgia (god, I loved that Tapestry album to death back in the day), and another +1 for standing up to Colbert on the "Report." She gives great interview.
When I hear this song all I can think about is the Simpsons episode where Lisa performed this song with Bleeding Gums Murphy. *Edit: Squiddish beat me to it by seconds! ;)
I wonder how many young women have listened to Ms. King and begged their lucky stars they could be 10% the singer/songwriter Carol is/was... Some seem to forget that these were the "formative years ."
WHAT?? This has to be a mistake. This sounds horrible on RP.
Nice to hear something from Wrap Around Joy album not Goin' Back as listed here.
