Is our secret safe tonight and are we out of sight?
Or will our world come tumbling down?
Will they find our hiding place, is this our last embrace?
Or will the walls start caving in?

It could be wrong, could be wrong
But it should've been right
It could be wrong, could be wrong
To let our hearts ignite
It could be wrong, could be wrong
Are we digging a hole?
It could be wrong, could be wrong
This is out of control
It could be wrong, could be wrong
It could never last
It could be wrong, could be wrong
Must erase it fast
It could be wrong, could be wrong
But it could've been right
It could be wrong, could be

Love is our resistance
They'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down
And hold me
Our lips must always be sealed

If we live our life in fear, I'll wait a thousand years
Just to see you smile again
Quell your prayers for love and peace, you'll wake the thought police
We can hide the truth inside

It could be wrong, could be wrong
But it should've been right
It could be wrong, could be wrong
To let our hearts ignite
It could be wrong, could be wrong
Are we digging a hole?
It could be wrong, could be wrong
This is out of control
It could be wrong, could be wrong
It could never last
It could be wrong, could be wrong
Must erase it fast
It could be wrong, could be wrong
But it could've been right
It could be wrong, could be

Love is our resistance
They'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down
Hold me
Our lips must always be sealed

The night has reached its end
We can't pretend
We must run
We must run
It's time to run

Take us away from here
Protect us from further harm

The bass lines in this song are phenomenal!
“Their early stuff in particular sounds to me like Queen and Radiohead has some crazy operatic love child” I can get that, but just without the same talent in my view. So very not my cup of tea.
I just enjoy the heck out of Muse.  Their early stuff in particular sounds to me like Queen and Radiohead has some crazy operatic love child :D
The whole album is superb. Enjoying every time I  hear it.
Seen them 4 times in Singapore and each time they up the ante. Whatever you might think about their music their live shows are off the scale for pure rock entertainment.
Bump it to a 7.2 so good for aural pleasure.
Always epic.
Love Muse!
Bumped it up one

The mellowdrama comments make sense...but are a bit out of context without listening to the entire album.  They are band that suffers from popularity...like Dave Mathews...you can't possibly be "cool" if you like them.

It's over the top at times, but Muse has some solid songs and albums.
Reminds me of Midge Ure and Ultavox. Like it.

Still kickin Grandpa lol you just don't know about it
Oh and without denying some of the 'punk' spirit is in hip hop and trap these days

I got this CD last weekend and it really is very good indeed, for all the bombast. What I'd not realised until looking at the lyrics is that much of it is based on Orwell's 1984, hence the songs about resistance and uprising. A really big sound. Award-winning album cover too, I read. 9 from the Nottingham jury.

I'll join you up there, fredriley….8 becomes 9 and all's fine, Long Live RP and short live Big Bro!!
‘Oh this is futile’ 😁
These lyrics suck. This song sucks.

@fredriley what about United States Of Eurasia?   and thank you for your post

If you like music that relates back to Orwell's 1984, check out the EBM band VNV Nation. Specifically the album Futureperfect (although pretty much all of their songs/lyrics touch on the theme). They even use samples from the film 1984.

I was just gonna say "bombastic" too—-like Queen. Could be a good thing, sometimes, but didn't hit me right this time. I wouldn't mind hearing them a little less.

I bought this album and it came with a DVD of Muse during the recording process.  It definitely gives some insight into their mindset while doing this album.  It seems that tongue was firmly placed to cheek while they were doing some of it... I remember a remark about some slap bass playing and they were laughing about how no one had heard that on a record since '80's era Duran Duran or something to that effect.  I really think they're just having fun with sounds that influenced them.  It reminded me that most importantly music should be fun, that it need not be taken so seriously all the time.  I think Resistance is a fun record and in that I think Muse hit their mark.
Good insight but without it the song comes off sounding pretentious and contrived.
Have to admit that the musicianship and studio work is quite good.

When will this band be *over*? I could enjoy hearing them once a month. More than that is making me twitch.

Agree on the "I could be wrong..." repetition.  I like this song less and less the more I hear it.

I've always thought Muse was the lovechild of Radio Head and Queen :D  This song just confirms the idea.  I enjoy it!

Over the top to the point of ridiculousness (is that a word?).

LOL! It is a pretty big sound, right enough, with distinct echoes of Queen, and quite anthemic. Nice, though, and maybe it's time for rock opera to come back (every other musical form seems to have re-had its day of late). 7 from the Nottingham jury.

There is a very fine line between this and "The Final Countdown". Just say'in.
Terrible song.
This is the first time I'm hearing this, and before reading previously posted comments, I definitely heard Queen in there, big time.  Nobody can duplicate Queen, but this sounds pretty good.
Hate this guy's voice.. he's so much suffering...

Whoa — spot on. I'm sitting next to my wife who is a HUGE Rundgren fan. I read this to her just before the first chorus came in. "Oh my, does it EVER! I have chills!" was her response.

These guys somewhat rock - compared to the 80s/90s mush that seems to be the RP norm of late they really stand out.  Must be that Brian May influence. {#Bananajam}

Melodrama. {#Rolleyes}
The chorus makes me think of Todd Rundgren.
I feel that I shouldn't like this for some reason.  I do, though.

yuk! this song makes me run for the hills. such drama queens, i must have been left behind on their self important voyage.

those stupid tom fills are incredibly annoying.
Not really....
frantic and over-wrought... no sir, I don't like it
{#Snooty}

This song reminds me of the German group Rare Bird's style...

How many songs must they have that talk about "fighting the man", "resisting oppression" or some sort of intergalactic struggle?

New-wave tried to destroy the metal, but the metal had its way.
Grunge then tried to dethrone the metal, but metal was in the way.
Punk-rock tried to destroy the metal, but metal was much too strong.
Techno tried to defile the metal, but techno was proven wrong.

No one can destroy the metal.
The metal will strike you down with a viscious blow.

I hear the Queen. Sounds like they're really trying. I don't know what Dio sounds like, but I've seen the t-shirts and that's enough for me. Though maybe I shouldn't judge a band by their t-shirt.

Ditto on the Queen - reminds me of the Flash Gordon soundtrack.
Flash! Aa-ah!

nope..not feeling the love on this one....the repetition is mind-numbingly annoying....
I've quickly grown tired of these guys.
No doubt they have some musical talent.
But I find there ideas just sound too borrowed from better artists.
And there lyrics are ridiculous!
How many songs must they have that talk about "fighting the man", "resisting oppression" or some sort of intergalactic struggle?

Cheese!

The more I hear off this album, the more I like it. I hadn't been too big a fan of the 1st few albums, but this one is different. I may just have to get this one. Thanks RP, Bill & Becca. You continue to rock my little world...{#Drummer}
OK, I don't normally dis' a group/song.
However, my day could be better without hearing this again.

Very cool album cover, though.

This is growing on me, just up-rated it a bit...
7!!
I just finished listening to this entire album, a great experience. Love the band's kinda new take on progressive rock.
Dio meets Queen?
Blech!
1/3 of ratings tens?  I'll bet that trend doesn't hold up!

More like U2 meets Golden Earing.

This is so very different from the usual Muse, but I like it.  Thanks again for another great song to brighten the work day, RP!

Robert Miles meets a 1970's era high school musical?  I love me some Muse, but this song confuses me.
