You shove your way
Through the room from the street
And finally to me
You ask me what I'm drinking

My friend Johnny
Tugging on my sleeve
Asks if I wanna leave
But what I'm really thinking is

Why can't it be easy
Easy
Why don't you leave
Leave me
Leave me be
I can see you swaying
I can't hear what you're saying

I'm sitting here stuck
And plastered to my seat
I think up a reason to leave
When you finally stop speaking
I'll take a long slow
Walk down Washington Street
Half asleep on my feet
Half aware if I'm dreaming

I'll go home alone
A sinking stone
A swithed off telephone
I'll go on and be free
A frozen breeze
A fallen down factory
But I still see you swaying
And I can't hear what you're saying

I just lost the plot
Got a little caught
In a little knot
I just hit a wall
Had a little fall
Felt the swinging wrecking ball
And why should that be
Why don't you tell me
Why don't you tell me
I'm sure you'll tell me
Why don't you tell me
I guess you'll tell me
Tell me

Have no idea why this is in the playlist. There's enough Norah Jones stuff in it where this meandering, hopelessly boring song could be skipped.. I've long passed out of the phase where I thought Norah Jones was hot looking and would give her a pass on everything on here...

Have no idea why you think your opinion about her looks would be of any interest of all for the rest of us.

BTO!
wow...for a moment I thought Bill was playing Eva Dahlgren !
Excellente artiste, j'adore !
feel asleep, woke up, song still droning on, back to sleep ZZZZzzzz
Love this song!
What an artist.
Amazing song , Would love to hear again Thanks

Jesus.
Anyone else pick up a touch of Fat Old Sun?
An unusually not middle of the road fall asleep to song from this girl.

Yeah well, she's equally unimpressed with your tiny "priest".
This tune could make me give Norah Jones another, closer listen. Good stuff!
That's a HUGE dog.  I know that the dog is in front which makes it appear larger, but even so compare the size of its head verses hers.

IMO the St. Bernard's smaller (relatively) cousin the Bernese Mountain dog is the most beautiful of all breeds.

Whatta' dink.

I believe it's actually Peter Atanasoff (of Tito & Tarantula). Both he and Norah have "electric guitar" credits on this track.

So Norah co-wrote this song with Will Sheff (Okkervil River and Shearwater)
and I'd bet Sheff played the guitar
I freaking love this song.
WOW. I don't understand why I know so little of her music. Need to remedy that.

Norah has such a sexy tone to her voice. Mmmm

The title of the Squeeze song is "Another nail IN my heart", not 'for'.
Très langoureux à souhait !

Oops, sorry about that unintended slight, westslope; those were just two recording artists whose names came to mind.  I did not select them because of their national origins - honest.  I guess I could just have easily named Britney Spears, but her name comes up in these threads so often already.

We're all entitled to our opinions of course, but I believe your assessment is somewhat inaccurate.  Her music is often quite complex - if you play a musical instrument you should hear that.  "Cavity-inducing pop"?  We're not talking about Nickelback or Justin Bieber here.  I'm not a huge fan of Norah Jones, but just because she's enjoyed some success (on Blue Note Records - a label generally not known for pop music) and critical acclaim, does not make her music "cavity-inducing pop".

This flame she brings to me seems to never go dim.(sorry, correct English?)
Still a strong 9 here.

Amazing, how she does that with her voice, like the way the guitar dances around with it...it's jarring but sweet at the same time; like it.
Miles up next, got a preview on the list
sounds to me like Eva Dahlgren...it is good
This is hot.  I like it a lot.
Like her stuff. Not a huge fan of everything but THIS sounds great. Best song of the album.
Yep, still a 9 for me.
Wow. That was a "real" transition from Patti Smith to Norah Jones...thank you PSD.
Might have been better on a solo piano, or a spare arrangement.
...... always enjoy a bit of Norah

In summary....... sultry.
Norah Jones remains an amazingly refreshing voice, willing to experiment. She is incredible
Funny... I really started to hate the combination of her voice and style after the "hit albums". Way overplayed, at the time. And I still feel like that.
But this song seems to take that away a bit. It's seems like a great song... I'll give it a 7 for now. See if the feeling persists over the next plays, and maybe I will even raise it...

a lot of us seem to be on the same wavelength regarding this song — it is more captivating than Norah's usual stuff, which I find... just, nice. This track makes me consider checking out the album.

Norah Jones.....  makes great music, no argument there.  But something is missing from her voice.  She is more or less a blues singer I suppose, but you can't feel any pain in her voice.  I'm not sure if it's technical or maybe she just has had a good life free of hardship.   I don't know, but it always bothers me when I hear her sing.  I would almost call it soulless - except that's a pretty harsh thing to say about someone I don't know.

Maybe if she tried some cheery tunes I would like her much better.

You really should give a listen to her work with "El Madmo."  It's crazy, a little sloppy, and funny as hell. (I mean, how could you NOT love a song called "Rock Yer Balls Off"?) {#Lol}

Agreed. I've never liked her music - thin, no complexity, cavity-inducing pop. But this song has grabbed me. That's scary!

Like the music.  I think Norah can provide vocals to a range of styles and music.
Decent song, less tedious then a lot of her stuff (Besides the album with the Peter Malick Group).

I wanna pet the dog.  He looks like a happy puppy.
...what's i've heard of this album has remarkably transformed my opinion of norah jones; good music!..
nj starts to get interesting. starts.

Pretty good group of studio players backing her, wasted but not as badly as those backing Natalie Merchant.

She just got bumped up in my rating: from a 7 to an 8. Her subtleness speaks volumes.
What a sweet heart, love that voice.  You can move in anytime honey, you can even bring that big puppy dog with you.
Interesting interview w/Tavis Smiley 9/17/10: https://www.pbs.org/kcet/tavissmiley/archive/201009/20100917.html
She talks about how much she enjoys playing the guitar and facing the audience head-on, also about her writing processes.

how do you listen to the songs?!
And, you know what?   It became a nice 9!
Some Crow's "Home", a bit of Neil Young... a strong 8 for me.
A little funky {#Dance} >> the way i like Norah <<

excellent
This is really good
Oh, why can't we get Norah in her "El Madmo" personna??  She's so funny, screechy, startling, and did I mention funny? I have some El Madmo stuff, but I can't get the right bitrates to upload it all. Still working on it - I really think a "split-personality Norah Jones" would be so much FUN here...
As with Natalie Merchant's recent work, I find my appreciation of Norah's to be steadily waning as well.

I haven't heard the album.... but I LOVE that I get to hear tracks here that aren't played on the radio.   NIce tune!   Thanks!!

Nice arrangements ... Ms. Jones' voice is aurally pleasant ... but lacks emotion—as I have mentioned before {#Chillpill}
surprisingly solid album. In my ears, better than the "big to do" debut a couple of years back.
her Dad was Ravi Shankar, she's got beautiful hair, her voice is okay, but her stuff doesn't quite take me to another level like I like music to do. the guitar was pretty good—-

Not into Norah Jones in a big way...but I like this tune in a big way!  Good stuff.
