As a GenXer, my first exposure to the Dead was Touch of Grey. I remember mentioning Touch of Grey to a friend, and he said, "Man, you gotta to listen to this.." and started playing Saint Stephen on his car's tape deck. So here's to the memory of first hearing the second of many Dead songs I have enjoyed since Touch of Grey.
I walked into the album cover once upon a rather perturbed timeā¦. This song still resonates
Awesome segue from Lyle's version of Friend of the Devil. Love Jerry's voice on this song just seems to resonate emotion and Phil is rocking on the bass
! And as I am typing William takes us to Beats Antique "New Speedway Boogie... What a start for a Friday morning! Nothing left to do but smile, smile...smile

And that lovely bass from Phil
And don't forget: one man gathers, what another man
spills
Well...its about time you play a song from this here album.
So glad this is back in the rotation after a bit of a break! One of the first tracks I appreciated from the Dead after them not ever "clicking" with me for about the first 35 years of my life. The bass, the tempo shift, the growing tension leading to a partying crescendo: it's a track that seems like it's always existed yet is simultaneously ground-breaking.
Phils bass playing, simply amazing

JERRY!!!

Hello and Rock-a-bye - Waves reaches the shore it may also take fifteen minutes.
I wish another talking head singing twisted time.Bye bye.

Why won't you play What's Become of the Baby? The semi-reconstituted Dead managed it this past summer. Never thought I would hear this on this site, but it is not possible to listen to this objectively due to its apparent fusing with a number of synapses.
There aren't too many that can play a bass like Phil in this song.
Yup, love it. Trippy, quirky, jerky, melodic, and righteous, has all the best qualities of their best songs.

One of my favorites.
One man gathers...what another man spills.
My goodness, what a blast!
