I found a love, sweet and young
Out in the big open
Deep in the land of stars that shine
Bright like the heart she wore
I spent a lifetime on that road
She spent a life in town
And I said c'mon, she said right
Let's head for higher ground
Let's go shall we
On through the majesty
Let's go, you'd never know
But this was made for you and me, shall we
We hit the road, the big highway
With a heart full of soul and fire
Making our way through America
In a ford on a two-cent tire
Let's go shall we
On through the majesty

Let's go, you'd never know
But this was made for you and me
We laid down under stars
Under the dead of night
There in a field of wildflowers
Baby we finally made things right
Where no bands of gold or
Diamond rings or wished of well could hold
More than our hearts of good intentions
More than our promise told

Let's go shall we
On through the majesty
Let's go, you'd never know it
But this was made for you and me, shall we

He played free in Battery Park last summer. (2019 maybe 2018?)   Amazing!

You lucky duck. I wish that I could have been there!

I saw this band at Richmond Va folk festival years  ago. Really good performance. More on RP please.

It is not the time, it is the mood.
The more I hear this, the more I like it!!  Thanx RP!
Excellent Tune! I had never heard of him before. That is why we come here.   Thanx RP!
Is someone goofing here or  are the translation of the lyrics the same as the Bodeans Texas Ride Song?
In a fantastic instance of self-referential meta-humour, this album cover is actually a photograph of Touré laughing at this very comment!
Had the great fortune to see him in March 2020 in Strasbourg France, literally the week before Corona closed everything down.  Amazing day, amazing show, amazing night...

Thankful for the published lyrics to the songs now.  They may have always been available but think that was a new thing with the new RP.  Usually makes the song much more meaningful

For those who might not know, Vieux is the son of Grammy winning Ali Farka Touré.

I saw Ali play a couple of times and WonderLizard is perfectly correct in that he is carrying on the skill and sound of his father.

Marvellous stuff

You are privileged to have heard him live... I'd have offered up a few non-essential organs for that experience.

His son, I'm sure, is making him proud there in his place up in the heavens.

Such a happy space for me.
Stopped me in my tracks.  What an amazing talent- to invoke a setting, a feeling, a culture, even the heat of the desert from a world away.
Just listening to this in background for awhile not really paying attention  and then it hit me, this is a very beautiful melodic piece of music.
