Very sad indeed. Always been a huge fan but it's just leaving a bad taste now. Feel bad for the rest of the group, especially his wife.
Same. I'm not sure his wife forgiving him really changes anything for me. There was clearly something to apologize for, and the fact the whole band was built on this wholesome and idealistic foundation rather than something like Motley Crue's debauchery makes it worse. I was listening to the band more than any other and now....yeah not anymore.
None of us are perfect but this hit harder than other instances.

I've gotta say for a Montreal based band this definitely has that Montreal sound... the keyboards sound quite a bit like some of the stylings on Celine Dion's early albums. I wonder if there's some influence there.

You mean his wife who stands behind him today and wrote the following:
"Win is my soulmate, my songwriting partner, my husband, the father of my beautiful boy. He has been my partner in life and in music for 20 years. And for all of the love in our lives, I have also watched him suffer through immense pain. I have stood by him because I know he is a good man who cares about this world, our band, his fans, friends, and our family. I’ve known Win since before we were “famous,” when we were just ordinary college students. I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am certain he never did. He has lost his way and he has found his way back. I love him and love the life we have created together."
It sure is a good thing that Regine doesn't care about your "feels". Life is complicated even before the whole world lines up to judge you and petty voices in forums, like this one (and Pitchfork for that matter), sense the smell of blood in the water.

Just saw them last week in Chicago - they were amazing! Highly recommend you catch this tour if you are so inclined. Their show was more elaborate and compelling than last I saw them a couple of years ago. They dug deep and wide into their catalogue and only a couple of tracks from this new album (including this one), which to me says a lot about their own feelings on the new album.

Hmmm. Not sure what this means. The first thing I think of when I see May 4th is the shootings at Kent State.
It is May 4th now, so back to the future. Thanks, RP. =)

Good to hear a few Canadian bands today, what with Hurricane Fiona tearing through Nova Scotia right now.
I really like this. Its too bad for the band that the Butler sexual conduct allegations have come out - kind of kills it for them.
I don't always use the PSD button, but when I do it is usually an Arcade Fire song.

The PSD gods have rendered something of a minor miracle. Not immediately recognizable as such, it's an AF song that makes me want to listen, at least a few times, instead of jabbing the moving-on button.
Na na na, na na na, na na na.
The rest is just the same, isn't it?

I think this might go to an 8 for me. Good one.
Seems like this new album is going on the shopping list. A nice surprise from these guys...they haven't really grabbed my attention since Neon Bible...
I work on the TV broadcast of The Juno Awards (which is the Canadian Grammy Awards for our US friends) and we had Arcade Fire close the live show (3 days ago, May 15, 2022) with this song and they had a local youth steel-drum group play with them on-stage -- it was an great way to finish the show!
Nice!
Liking this more than the other tune - Lightening - for sure.
Interesting! This is quite a divergence from their recent direction (Reflektor / Everything Now, particularly). Lyrically, it kind of reminds me of a Cloud Cult song -- it seems to have an underlying optimism to it. I like it a lot!
Class, as always!
Good to hear some new AF material.
Hooray for new Arcade Fire - and thanks for the preview, Bill & Rebecca.
Wow, a new Arcade Fire album! Thanks, RP!
