Sometimes you look the same
Just like you did before the accident
When you're staring into space
It's hard to believe you don't remember it
Woke up in the ambulance
You pieced it all together on the drive
I know you don't remember calling me
But I told you even then you looked so pretty
In a hospital bed
I remember you said you were scared
And so was I
In a standstill on the 5
I thought it was unusually early traffic
Usually I don't panic, I
Just wanted to be on time
When I saw the ambulances on the shoulder
I didn't even think of pulling over
I pieced it all together late that night
And I know you don't remember calling me
But I told you even then you looked so pretty
In a hospital bed
I remember you said you were scared
And so was I
What if it happened to you on a different day
On a bridge where there wasn't a rail in the way
Or a neighborhood street where the little kids play
Or the Angeles Crest in the snow or the rain?
What if you weren't alone? There were kids in the car
What if you were remote? No one knows where you are
If you'd changed anything would you not have survived?
You're alive, you're alive, you're alive
And I know you don't remember calling me
But I told you even then you looked so pretty
In your hospital bed
I remember you said you were scared
And so am I
Just like you did before the accident
When you're staring into space
It's hard to believe you don't remember it
Woke up in the ambulance

Ain’t she/they just great?

I'm kind of thinking they should regroup as The O'Connells so that they all get equal credit.
Don't forget, her brother is a major part of her music.

Whatareya doin to me William. Following alt-J's The Dream with this one. I'm heading to a meeting with red rimmed eyes, thank you.

Know what you mean. At first I thought, "geez, not another mopey teenager telling us how much of a bummer her life is". After a number of listens, not to mention becoming aware of the range of her tunes, I've completely changed my mind. Ms. Eilish is quite an impressive artist, furshur.

I was quietly working when the line "You're alive, you're alive, you're alive" played and I had to go back and read the lyrics. WoW. I'm so moved by the story and the telling of it.
she gets my vote - clap clap clap
you know? I got so caught up in the Eilish tour recently that I just completely forgot to CLEAN or BATHE myself for months!😜....DUH! I Really like when her tunes come up on RP specifically.

There should be another stanza about getting MRSA from the hospital.
Gah. Don't bring up bad memories
Of course a very young lady was who I needed to remind me of the important things.
Maybe this is crazy but in someways this reminds me of Jessica. The way she escalates the tune and then it has it's own trajectory. There is probably a name for this type of musical structure but I have no idea what it is.
Another very nice song from Ms. Eilish. Strong 7 with this first listen.

Got to respectfully disagree. Did you miss the part about, "You're alive! You're alive! You're alive?"
This story repeats every single day in cities around the world, and those of us who remain alive should celebrate the fact that the Grim Reaper's swing missed us this time.
<snip> But this, um, no, taking a pass. It's a downer.

It happened again after only 3 days! "The 30th" is playing right now, and according to the play history the last song was "Get Better" by alt-J
Bill - Get Better followed by The 30th. How am I supposed to work staring at the floor?

Damn...I really like her.

Amazing maturity in both lyrics and instrumentation.
Just not to my taste. Bit to modern angsty. I prefer old angst. Lots of folks dig her, and I'm happy they do! Long live freedom of choice!

I just made this identical comment about Alt J.
Nice artistry. I find it hard to diss those who are successful at their gift. But this, um, no, taking a pass. It's a downer.

Good stuff again from Billie.

Agreed. She may be talented, but that doesn't automatically mean her stuff is good.
Hoping this Eilish fad will blow away quickly.

Ho-lee jeebus I am crying here. Damn this is good.

Her brother and co-writer and producer (Finneas) put out his own solo record last year. Curious to hear it
