stupendous
It's a traditional Italian song (from Abruzzo, a region in Central Italy). It was first readapted by Giovanna Marini and then re-elaborated by Domenico Modugno and Enrica Bonaccorti in 1971 (the most famous version)
Grazie mille per parole e le informazione. È bello sentire una canzone italiana qui. 8 dalla giuria italofila da Nottingham :)
Sun in the valley and sun in the hill
There is no one left for the countryside
Goodbye, goodbye, love
I leave my bitter land
Bitter and beautiful
Infinite skies and faces like stone
Calloused hands now without hope
Goodbye, goodbye, love
I leave My bitter land
Bitter and beautiful
The moon has already been born among the olive groves
A baby cries and nurses a thin breast
Goodbye, goodbye, love
I leave My bitter land
Bitter and beautiful

Nice, thank you for this grandemarch :)
One of my favorites in this meaning is Marco Beltrami's " La terre tremblante" of In the electric mist! A must have seen, absolutly !

This is nice. Had me look the song up.
Sole alla valle e sole alla collina
Per le campagne non c'è più nessuno
Addio, addio, amore
Io vado via
Amara terra mia
Amara e bella
Cieli infiniti e volti come pietra
Mani incallite ormai senza speranza
Addio, addio, amore
Io vado via
Amara terra mia
Amara e bella
Fra gli uliveti è nata già la luna
Un bimbo piange e allatta un seno magro
Addio, addio, amore
Io vado via
Amara terra mia
Amara e bella
Apparently originally from Domenico Modugno.
Thanks RP :)
Great song, immediate 8 rate so I can hear in 'My Favorites' at a future date.
AND and what a FABULOUS segue to "Burning Up" by Alpinestars; William and RP get a 10!!

Talk about a mix of cultural influences. I'm hearing Arabian, Indian, a touch of Western dissonance to resolve., and maybe some others. Very strange and interesting sound. I'll have to go listen to more of this guy's work. Opening with a positive 8 from Napoli on the Gulf.
Add Tuareg/Berber to that as well.
