Love is the reason I'm still holding ground
Life isn't perfect parties and perfect sounds
Death is in season, it's pushing me 'round
And 'round and 'round
A bottle cap, a rusted crown

When one pushes up, the other pulls me down
And I don't know if I'll get out, if I'll get out
One pushes up, the other pulls me down
And I don't know if I'll get out, if I'll get out

This one makes you big in a cruel world
This one makes you small in a lonely world
This one takes it all away, all the pain
But I'm not giving up
Not today, not today

There's life in this tunnel, we're just hanging around
Please, if you see my hand, just pull me out
'Cause there's death in this tunnel
Still hanging on me, still begging on me

'Cause when one pushes up, the other pulls me down
And I don't know if I'll get out, if I'll be found

This one makes you big, what a cruel world
This one makes you small, feel that lonely world
This one takes it all away, but I'll stay
'Cause I won't give you up
Not today, I won't
I won't give you up

Hard to find a more passionate singer than Samuel.

Completely agree. I saw them last year and had no idea that this guy goes berserk on stage. It was kind of jarring lol. He was running around kicking and flailing so much that he ended up splitting his jeans and had to change them while the band played an instrumental track. There's no quick or easy way to change out of soaking wet denim.

I'm really looking forward to seeing them perform this new record next month here in michigan.

This band is another wonderful discovery for me through the portal of Radio Paradise. Thanks to all who support!

True, but Bill just made it easier by playing this right after Queen's Somebody to Love!
I learned about Future Islands' music through the videoclips someone made for their songs on Youtube, unofficially. This man combines the music with old movie footage and it works like magic. Look for the user David Dean Burkhart and his videos for Future Islands.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. The song is repetitive? The band is repetitive? Either way I disagree. There are some lyrics repeated in the song, but that goes for most music out there. And sure some songs by Future Islands sound similar. Again, that is quite common for a band to have songs that sound similar to each other.
I find myself loving this song and band, and would be happy to hear more of "the same thing over and over again."

Nice!!  Instantly recognizable as them, but still fresh.
Oooh new Future Islands!

Saw this band live in Switzerland, they were in their own league. Makes me wonder what all the bimbos are like giving all these negative ratings.
This stream has an extremely undeserved hardon for future islands.
I'm not struck with their new stuff, compared to previous efforts.  Definitely wouldn't buy it.
I've really enjoyed all of the Future Islands play on RP. This one feels like a distinctly different singing style from Samuel ... smoother, softer ... maybe a bit more vulnerable and authentic? I like it. Starting at a 7.

EDIT: Going up to 8 on repeated listenings!

So glad to hear something new from this band
Thank you Bill!
