Take my arm and walk with me
Once more down this dusty old path
The sunset cuts the hill in half
Our shadows stretch back to touch the night
The light's fading, you say
But these darkening days
Flow like honey

These days slowing down
A whole life in a glance
The clearest light shines in the darkness
Shining on me
And we're still doing this dance
One step at a time
As the days slip by
As smooth as glass
The moments pass

And all these precious things you gave
That I've been holding in my hands
These grains of sand
A man stands in a river
Pushes against the stream
Time is a tide that disobeys
It disobeys me

These days slowing down
A whole life in a glance
The clearest light shines in the darkness
Still shining on me
And we're still doing this dance
The moon and the stars
As the days slip by
As smooth as glass
The moments pass

And all these precious things you gave
Falling through my hands
These worlds, this scattered sand
I stand in a river
Push against the stream
Time is a tide that disobeys
And it disobeys me
It never ends

A comfortably numb banana for David, who seems to have forgotten he has already played this solo elsewhere.
Funny to see how idolatrous listeners become when it comes to someone like Gilmour. Anyway: totally predictable but still pretty good.
I seen David 3 nights at the Hollywood Bowl recently and when he performed this song it was one of the most BEAUTIFUL things I have ever heard. That solo deserves a 10 in my book.

Beautiful guitarsolo! So happy with this new work from the master....

Yeah!! I need to catch it again though and listen to it all (I was asleep when it played some half an hour ago and I woke up when it almost ended, thinking "this must be a new David Gilmour song!"). From the little that I managed to hear I felt it sounded like "The Division Bell", finally a solo Gilmour piece that I like.
Thank you David Gilmour!
Unmistakable guitar sound! I also like the return to the theme of Time slipping by but never ending, (like on The Dark Side of The Moon), defying the wishes of mortals, leaving us pushing in utter futility against it, or dancing, if we still can, in the face of it... Jam on, David!
Love the part that sounds like Warsaw Concerto.
I’m 68 years old. Born in ‘56- this bastard is STILL cranking them out at 78!!!!
So. Very. Good.
i swear he gets better with every passing year
This is album is excellent. Actively listened to the whole thing over the weekend. Really impressive - check it out! I understand the references now to Bowie's Blackstar album.

I received my CD of this album the other day and have listened to it a few times.  On the one hand, it's nicely made, with some good playing (not least his daughter Romany) and there are echoes (sorry!) of Pink Floyd here and there.  But it's not a Pink Floyd record - it's a David Gilmour record.  My personal take on it is that Polly Sampson isn't a particularly inspiring lyricist - at least her words don't move me in the way that David's have on previous records.

On this song, I find the piano break a bit clunky (I'm a pianist and I know whereof I speak) but on the whole it's a good cut.

And then there's his guitar ....

Maybe there's just a lot of David Gilmour in Pink Floyd records?

The only bad thing about this song is that it is only 7 minutes long

Goose bumps from that guitar.

My favorite guitarist, and one of my favorite voices, but I've never been able to connect with any of his solo work. I even find his Pink Floyd work without Roger pretty meh. There was something very special, albeit intangible, when David & Roger worked together.
This is a very good album, best I've heard in a while.

Nick Mason's drumming would have made it even better.
I love Gilmour's solo!  Gives me goosebumps.
I love piano (I play piano too), somehow the piano flourishes feel unnecessary. More guitar!
Saw Pink Floyd a couple of times back in the day and Gilmour was, and is, a genius.
And boy, was he mighty good to look at..
