Already done. Bored of the Rings by the guys behind Harvard Lampoon, Doug Kenney and Henry Beard. The book is more than 50 years old by now, so many of the topical references would fall flat, but at the time it was hilarious. Don't recall a machine gun, but the stud was Arrowroot son of Arrowshirt.

I like Sofi Tucker a lot. And I find the original of this song transcendent. I'm very surprised but, or some reason I can't quite put my finger on, the two together is, for me, less enjoyable than either separately.
I'm not comfortable with that cover giving her a Get Christie Love hairdo.

I love Nina Simone and I like Sofi Tukker, but this seems to be a bit less than the sum of its parts. It’s not bad but it could have been epic.

Apparently all it takes to wreck a classic performance is a stultifying rhythm track. Success!
I like some of Sofi Tucker's stuff, but honestly this version, with its grinding beat is less intense, less urgent and just less than Simone's original.

Personally, I prefer the original. Some performances don't need remixes. This is one.
