Saw Dylan and the Band do a version of the Rolling Thunder Review concert at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. The air was so thick with smoke you could hardly see the stage. If you weren't inhaling you weren't breathing.

The music was amazing, the people more so.

Of course we were spoiled in Toronto. Ronnie Hawkins trained and played with some great groups, including The Band. Dylan came up to see them a couple of times and the rest is, as they say, history.

Oh heck, why not. I've got a little glory scattered here and there after all... What can I say, except that I was there,6 weeks before turning 23. I'm old enough now to almost not believe some of my own memories, and have to pull this stuff out of the archives to prove it to myself. My view of the crowd, stage was to the SW of my viewfinder...

I wouldn't recommend any greatest hits compilations because once you get bit you'll want to hear it all & you'll be missing out on hidden gems such as Man In A Long Black Coat to name but one of dozens. Be patient & start your collection album by album is my suggestion.

I agree about the compilations except for one - Biograph is excellent and is a great starting set for someone just getting into Dylan.

My first concert experience was Dylan and The Band in 1874. it was the tour that became the Before The Flood album.

Yes it is & thank the gods for that since I've probably replaced my LP about 5 or 6 times through honest wear....on a Rega III turn-table (which I still have).....with Boothroyd Stuart Meridian Pre- & Power amps & Infinity RS 6000 speakers.
