Now that's a challenge! If you ignore all the issues surrounding lyrics and such, which don't really feature in classical music unless you include operetta, and are purely looking at the way the music is constructed. That would suggest prog-rock, or someone like Pink Floyd and such which are more than verse-chorus-verse-chorus-middle 8-verse-chours-ad-infinitum. Personally I'd go for Floyd from Dark Side Of The Moon onwards, but I am severely biased, there are many alternatives!

Does your friend listen to jazz ? Or does he consider jazz as classical music ? I'm afraid this wittypedia link only will suggest that there are many more classical music titles than "pop songs". So maybe you could copy the list and delete all that could look regularly classical to your friend, then show him... {#Lol}

Er....then I wouldn't suggest Captain Beefheart. {#Snooty}

But I would definitely recommend Mahavishnu Orchestra for someone who likes classical.
