Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn
Brooklyn Museum of Art Prospect Park and the gardens Jaques Torres Chocolates in Dumbo (try the green tea or chili pepper ones-ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yum) Montague St. shopping and eating the wonderful upper walk along the river overlooking the UN and Manhattan (bring the camera)
I had more fun in Brooklyn than in the city

What a great list! Will definitely take your suggestions with me. The only thing on our To-Do list this time is the High Line. It is such an interesting concept and I've read about it so would like to see it in person. But that's it as far as touristy stuff and that isn't all that touristy.
Airfare is ridiculously cheap right now. The boys are going to watch a little bit of the US Open. Since they'll have to stay somewhere anyway - it isn't costing much for me to tag along. And who am I turn down an almost free trip? I've never taken many photos in NYC so thought about bringing a camera and doing a little photo-safari. Maybe concentrating on architecturally interesting churches - NY has tons of them to choose from. Hopefully have lunch with some girlfriends. See a movie or two that won't be making it's way out to my corner of the world. And eating insane amounts of lucuma ice cream.
if you go to the high line on a thursday afternoon come over to visit my clinic, at westbeth, then you can see inside some peeps studios. (and maybe get some acupuncture no apptment necessary) I'll let you know the deets if you want them. the high line actually used to go through that building! edit:
also note there is a good chance that maybe you can visit columbia hospital and meet my baby.

edieraye wrote:I love maternity clothes! I've threatened to buy one of those fake bellies just so I can wear the cute dresses with big bows. I am always looking for suggestions: favorite thrift store? bakery? church? movie theater? bookshop? Thanks! I don't have any maternity clothes, not real ones. i have been watching mad men. she had some cool stuff, 60's.... there are great thrift stores all around the city, and brooklyn. and probably queens. i'd have to give a list, but that would just be where i frequent, lower manhattan. i have a couple down the street that you might like (third ave/ second ave east v). my favourate is st. francis on 96 between broadway and amsterdam but that is mostly because of their huge book collection and very cheep prices, and it is large. but that probably not so funky. bakery, depends what you are looking for, and price. again, lots of great ones right around me :) just don't get anything around times square. church, Middle Collegiate Church. i am not a church person though, but i often go there for various reasons. again, it is by me so.... sometimes on a sunday i'll go to friends meeting house a block from me for a meeting, but that is different, quaker. movie theater? depends on what you want to see..... not sure you would find something like the film forum anywhere, but just look in time out for movies and go where the movie is. book shop, i live in bookshop heaven. strand, among many others is a couple blocks from here. strand people come from all over to visit.
