Tonight it was Senator Joe Biden!  My girl was so excited!  The campaign office is not that big, in a strip mall, and she could have reached out and touched him.  He spoke for about 15-20 minutes and went on his way (I think he's in Pueblo tomorrow).

Please don't take this the wrong way.

I'm trying to understand the allure of the politician. Why do we place them on such a pedestal? They are government servants whose salaries and benefits WE pay.

An article about Palin, but Biden's thread is sorely neglected.

...By contrast, Senator Biden was glib and fluent and in command of the facts — if by “in command of the facts” you mean “talks complete blithering balderdash and hogwash.” He flatly declared that Obama never said he would meet Ahmadinejad without preconditions. But, on Debate Night, the official Obama website was still boasting that he would meet Ahmadinejad “without preconditions”. He said America spends more in a month in Iraq than it’s spent in seven years in Afghanistan. Er, America has spent over $700 billion in Afghanistan since 2001. It’s spending about $10 billion a month in Iraq. But no matter.

To demonstrate his command of the “facts”, Senator Biden sportingly offered up his own instant replays: “My friend John McCain voted 422 times against tax cuts for the middle classes. Let me repeat that so the American people are clear on this. My friend John McCain voted 673 times against tax cuts for the middle classes.” The problem was that it all sounded drearily senatorial.

Mention any global crisis — civil war in Bosnia, genocide in Darfur, Russian aggression in Georgia, the lack of five-star restaurants in Wales — and Biden has been there, usually within the last two weeks, and always at public expense. What the American taxpayer gets for the Emir of Delaware’s frequent-flyer miles is harder to discern. Biden was doing his best to turn in a decent karaoke version of Lloyd Bentsen, but, unfortunately, Governor Palin declined to play Dan Quayle...

Hey, new car discussions going on here.  Road trip trial runs a possibility.  When should we absolutely, positively, never try to visit your part of WY?  (Schedule between now and end of year probably already filled.)

Late August thru  September is best. This weekend will be oh my god.

November thru April, Yellowstone's closed, and October and May are unpredictable tho potentially awesome. We usually say October's the best but last year was kind of iffy.

If you're not so much concerned with Yellowstone, the winter months... well they're still shit. December thru February are pretty much gray and stark and just count on indoor stuff. Sure we get out and play but unless you ski I don't see that being a good time to come for a visit. It's often a monotonous drive with everything monochrome.

but if February's when you have the time, we'll still plan a party!
Our last road trip of any consequence was about 10 years ago, when we drove the old Volvo up to Orcas for #1 son.  February. Iffy weather. Current Volvo will probably go to #1 daughter. San Jose. 65 miles from here. Can't hardly make a road trip out of that.  You haven't scared me sufficiently yet.

*edit*  Practically speaking, Late Feb. through May may be a possibility, let's see what shakes out.

I wonder if ol Biden could answer the same type of questions Couric ask Palen, regarding Obama?

You are right in suggesting that the focus should not be so intently upon the VP candidates.

However, the GOP cannot have it both ways.  They are happy to have Palin front-and-center for the "rock star" affect, which is to their strategic advantge, but then complain when the spotlight also brings with it scrutiny.

One might ask: Why is she getting so much attentiion?
