There were according to reports that there have been only 29 murders by any means in the state of Maine this past year. Not to make light of this by any means but 29 is a long weekend in Chicago.

It's a mental health issue... gun laws for people with mental health issues don't work... it's not a gun issue.
The number of mass shootings went down when we had a weapons assault ban, and has skyrocketed since it expired.
Appreciating that mental health is the problem...and it's growing...and laws don't work...what do you suggest we do? Learn to live with it (if we're lucky that is)?
Sooner or later this discussion will come around to Constitutional rights. How can you support a candidate who has violated it, called for its termination, and this month told a judge it's not his job (as President) to support it?
FWIW - you're more likely to die in states where there are lax gun laws (MS, AL, etc.) than you are in Chicago.
should be a public service ad, like this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs. run the ads daily, maybe more folks will pressure their congressperson to act and permanently ban them.

Err. Tell me you don't know much about the Canadian health care system without telling me... talk to your Cdn friends about their experiences and lengthy wait times with our healthcare system. That our health care system is better than the US is a myth. Ask around.
As for guns, we, like you, currently have a govt bent on taking away legally owned guns from registered owners - all in spite of the fact that almost all gun crime comes from illegal guns smuggled in from the US - ie - unregistered and types not auth in Canada, and used by gangs and the the criminal element. Our situation has some similarities, but on the whole is different.
Thanks for the point. You regulate guns and have better outcomes, despite the ongoing problems with illegally procured weapons. That's pretty much what most rational American are asking for.
