I find it very odd that when an earthquake happens in Haiti, there is comprehensive news coverage, forums full of people asking to donate (which is only right) but when these floods have hit Pakistan leaving literally millions of people affected, disease spreading, many dead, there is hardly anything at all, opr at least nowhere near the same scale yet just as many people, possibly more, are affected.

Please donate what you can to help these poor, poor people, please.

Blackwater’s Secret War in Pakistan: Jeremy Scahill Reveals Private Military Firm Operating in Pakistan Under Covert Assassination and Kidnapping Program.

In an explosive new article in The Nation magazine, investigative journalist and Democracy Now! correspondent Jeremy Scahill reveals the private military firm Blackwater is part of a covert program in Pakistan that includes planning the assassination and kidnapping of Taliban and Al-Qaeda suspects. Blackwater is also said to be involved in a previously undisclosed U.S. military drone campaign that has killed scores of people inside Pakistan. The article says the program has become so secretive that top Obama administration and military officials have likely been unaware of its existence. In a Democracy Now! exclusive, Scahill joins us for his first interview since the story broke.

Barack Obama told: help Pakistan or risk a repeat of 9/11 in America or Britain

"One White House aide emerged from an intelligence briefing on Pakistan three days after Mr Obama's inauguration to exclaim: "Holy s—t!""

"What we've been seeing in recent weeks is truly apocalyptic warnings from the analysts, which suggest that that is now a live possibility. The Pakistani government seems unable to control its own military or intelligence people. The tribal areas are already a failed state and a safe haven for terrorists.

"If that spreads the whole country will become a terrorist university. The chance of a spectacular in the US, or Britain, is exponentially increased. And Pakistan has nuclear weapons."

This scenario in Pakistan has been building for many years now, unfortunately the fuse is coming to an end.{#Sad}

I'm reading the book Three Cups of Tea which talks about when the Taliban and Al Queda really got going in that area. The poor people of Pakistan are suffering greatly because of the ridiculous war being fought in their country.

I didn't know him but Googling, I see Suroosh Alvi is co-founder with Spike Jonze of VBS.tv . He has a kind of eeky attitude toward guns but he showed us some cool stuff.

I think if they weren't shooting the place up so much, it'd be a pretty attractive tourist spot.

fat chance, would you give up the bomb if your neighbours had one?
 pakistan is more dangerous than iran or iraq. where do you think all the fighters are coming from. they believe they don't think.

Pakistan Facing Bankruptcy

Monday 06 October 2008

Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves are so low that the country can only afford one month of imports and faces possible bankruptcy.

    Islamabad - Officially, the central bank holds $8.14 billion (£4.65 billion) of foreign currency, but if forward liabilities are included, the real reserves may be only $3 billion - enough to buy about 30 days of imports like oil and food...
