The singer’s national debut on Stage Show was “like nothing that anyone had ever seen before on national television,” Levinson stated. “The sloe-eyed Presley had a leering smile while his body gyrated with unabashed sexuality. A strong country blues sense emanated from the handsome young singer…whose forelock drooped over his face, added to his allure…”

From his jaw-dropping performance on this show, many other networks and hosts were incredibly hesitant to bring him on. Even Ed Sullivan vowed to never book the singer on his show because of his aggressive and overtly sexual dance style.

Yeah, not gin directly, but it is apparently referring to the sloe berry.  So I guess it's technically an inaccurate description of Elvis' eyes since his were blue.

And Presley is Liberace compared to contemporary culture.  Are things really the same?  {#No}  There is a reason that a lot of God fearin' black folk despised the Blues and Juke Joints, called it the Devil's music and tried to keep their children away the best they could.  The juke joints produced some of the finest and freeist music there is, but they were no place for children and those that are not as uninhibited. You had to go to it.

is there a line?
live sex shows next?

no skin off my back...
never found the grammy's to be particularly relevant in rewarding artists, so i guess it's in-line with their "entertainment" angle.
i still dont think 90%+ of "rap" is music.
lots of it .... real interesting, good entertainment,
but it's talking, rhythm...doesn't really classify as music.

Y'all might enjoy these Vanity Fair "Same Interview, One Year Apart" videos with Billie Eilish. There are two so far, and they remind me a bit of the Michael Apted "7Up" documentaries.

Billie's been on my radar since mid-2018, thanks to AltNation on SiriusXM. I think she's great. Thanks to whomever posted the Carpool Karaoke video; that was really cool except for the part where we don't see Billie return the spider to its cage SO WHERE IS IT??!!

Wow I've seen a few episodes of that bit and they're usually amusing but that one was really something.

So YouTube decided that I needed to go on a Billie Eilish binge. It offered me something titled "Vocal Coach Reacts to Billie Eilish" and I figured here comes a brutal takedown of a pop phenom by an arch music snob and this ought to be fun. But it wasn't. I mean it was fun, but the vocal coach was agog, deeply impressed. And then there was another video with almost the same title and I watched that too-same reaction. And there on the sidebar were maybe a half dozen videos by different vocal coaches reacting to Billie Eilish and I stopped watching because I was already impressed and didn't need any more professionals to tell me why I ought to be.

Nobody seems to be able to muster up any hate for her yet. OK, I didn't read the comments (I like to maintain some faith in humanity) and this is the internet after all, but this seems to be one of those cases (like the Beatles) where...the public is right. This really is good.

I hadn't heard of her until she made the news with her Grammys, and I normally don't pay pop music the slightest attention, but she seems to be an utterly charming goofball. And listening to her music doesn't feel like a trip to Target like pop usually does. It feels kinda...real.

Bowie won Grammys for all 5 categories he was nominated in

Bowie, who died in January 2016, and “Blackstar” won four Grammys during the pre-show for best rock performance, best alternative music album, best engineered album, non-classical and best recording package.
During the televised show, Bowie won best rock song.

son Duncan posted this cool pic on Twitter and the caption
 "So proud of you dad!
Would hold you up forever. "
