XXXXX is a decent opening word, and a distinctive one! (Today it was played by less than 0.1% of players.) And today it was a lucky choice: Youâve eliminated all but 35 of the words in my dictionary.
and after the solution:
No one in our sample of 1,774,154 completed Wordles faced this scenario!
It seems the final scenario calculation is exclusively based on the total sequence of words/guesses, not any other factors. My opening guess almost always gets that "played by <1%". Today it was played by 0.2% but it somehow narrowed the choices to 17 words. My fourth guess was played by 84.5% with this explanation: "Based on a random sample of 227,142 hard mode Wordles. Share for solution includes guesses from previous turns."

It cuts down on the process of elimination guesses (in which I historically end up picking the wrong word).

I see how what you're doing works, especially when there are 3 or 4 possibilities - even if you've found 3 letters in the correct places. I didn't mean to imply that it's an invalid strategy, but guess it can occasionally make the "zero" scenario statistic show up.
It looks like part of that is the "Share for solution includes guesses from previous turns." calculation - so I guess it just comes down to no one today had your sequence to get to the correct answer.

I disagree. A lot of people play for the solution and that's a valid approach. I've had the 1 in a million response a few times and I'm sure it has happened when using already found letters.
