You never give me your money
You only give me your funny paper
and in the middle of negotiations
you break down

I never give you my number
I only give you my situation
and in the middle of investigation
I break down

Out of college, money spent
See no future, pay no rent
All the money's gone, nowhere to go
Any jobber got the sack
Monday morning, turning back
Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go
But oh, that magic feeling, nowhere to go
Oh, that magic feeling
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to go

One sweet dream
Pick up the bags and get in the limousine
Soon we'll be away from here
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away
One sweet dream came true... today
Came true... today
Came true... today...yes it did
One two three four five six seven,
All good children go to Heaven

ev'rybody's happy.
Here comes the Sun King.

Mean Mister Mustard sleeps in the park
Shaves in the dark trying to save paper
Sleeps in a hole in the road
Saving up to buy some clothes
Keeps a ten bob note up his nose
Such a mean old man
Such a mean old man

His sister Pam works in a shop
She never stops, she's a go-getter
Takes him out to look at the queen
Only place that he's ever been
Always shouts out something obscene
Such a dirty old man
Such a dirty old man

--

Well you should see Polythene Pam
She's so good-looking but she looks like a man
Well you should see her in drag dressed in her polythene bag
Yes you should see Polythene Pam
Yeah yeah yeah

Get a dose of her in jackboots and kilt
She's killer-diller when she's dressed to the hilt
She's the kind of a girl that makes the news of the world
Yes you could say she was attractively built
Yeah yeah yeah

--

She came in through the bathroom window
Protected by a silver spoon
But now she sucks her thumb and wanders
By the banks of her own lagoon

Didn't anybody tell her?
Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me

She said she'd always been a dancer
She worked at 15 clubs a day
And though she thought I knew the answer
Well I knew but I could not say.

And so I quit the police department
And got myself a steady job
And though she tried her best to help me
She could steal but she could not rob.

Didn't anybody tell her?
Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me
Oh yeah.

Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

--

Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time

I never give you my pillow
I only send you my invitations
And in the middle of the celebrations
I break down

Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time

--

Oh yeah, all right
Are you going to be in my dreams
Tonight?

Love You, Love You, (x15)

And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.

Yes, me too. I remember when and where exactly I was when I  first heard Abbey Road, and not only did it make my hair stand on end, but it provoked me to run laps around our house singing along at the top of my lungs (I had the sleeve liner in my tight little hands). I was 7-years old in 1970, and this album remains  my number one favorite. It still makes my hair stand on end and my eyes water (what the hell!).   I feel so lucky to be able hear and enjoy such incredible music.
What an amazing songscape, what an amazing suite of Masterpiece Music! Hearing it now, hearing it then, the things I didn't know then, the things I wish I didn't know now, the things I wish I hadn't doubted then, the things I now know without a doubt... WOW. TIMELESS!
This is why I keep coming back. Thumbs up!!
Why on this earth have I not rated this?
& always a treat when William plays nearly an entire side of the album!!

Maybe their best
that bass is just phenomenal throughout, remarkably groundbreaking.. 😎
It also amazing that this was recorded only 6 years after they released  "I Saw Here Standing There" (1963).  ...you know what I mean!!
GREAT TUNE!  GREAT ALBUM!   It is amazing that this was THE LAST RECORDING  that the Beatles made, even though it was released before the "Let it Be" album. A great way to go out!  Than You RP!
One of only a very small number of 10's of the countless songs I love that are played on  the greatest 'radio station' ever. Thank you for playing  it at exactly the right moment. 👌
Was about to leave when the first song began, put my bag and my coat down, sat down and listen to it. Had to, couldn’t leave in the middle , just impossible. Thank you RP.
Every note, every pick, tap, roll, twang and strum, and this entire album fills my heart and mind with reminiscent reverie, and makes me so thankful I was alive and able to experience it in it's moment in history, and that I am still able to experience it the same way, and even with more appreciation, 55 years later. Thanks for playing the whole medley RP.
One of the greatest songs of all time......

Perhaps a bit of an overstatement but I'm okay with it.

I guess I can't run out to lunch til this is over!!! Great music by great artists!

(I saw them in my local Church hall in Sutton Coldfield, UK , on 1st February 1963 - doing their 'rounds' in their van.  This female never thought she'd be here,  aged 74, still listening to 'our lads' on the radio from  over the  pond in 2023 -  60 years later. Thank you guys for all the wonderful music you gave us ..... 'in  tears' .........   )

So sad they're no longer here - but oh my, what they left behind. 74 years old now, but they still sound just as good to me as they did back then.  ✌️ ❤️
Yeeeah! The Beatles day! <3 Love it.
Remember that time you were on the Beatles and wrote that song that said "The love you take is equal to the love you make?" Is that true? Chris Farley and Paul McCartney
Just upped this to a 10. Second side of Abbey Road, one of my desert island albums. Surely some of the most inventive music ever written!!
Thank you Bill for the play-through. It is mood chnaging in the best way

Just one of the many reasons I listen to RP!

You are the BEST and thank you for the effort and love you put into your work!

Question for the old-timers:  this song took up a whole side of the record, yes?

Side 2 (or B) on the LP started with Here comes the Sun, then Because and then  the 16 Medley (You never give me your money - Sun King - Mean Mr. Mustard - Polythene Pam- She came in through the bathroom window - Golden Slumbers - Carry that weight - The end) . No doubt the best side B in the history of music

Was then,  still are, AWESOME.    60 years and still counting ..............
I was lucky to see them before they were famous - in our local Church Hall back in 1962.
Wonderful times, wonderful music.
Two in a row from Abbey Road - my favourite Beatles album by a long chalk.
Thanks, Bill.
This was the last studio recording by the Beatles. What a way to go out! Let it Be was recorded prior to  Abby Road, even though iit was released after it.

Some of these songs show up in the Get Back documentary. They were works in progress at that time so you see the Beatles ad libbing lines as placeholders. There's also stuff that surfaced on solo albums later (All Things Must Pass, Jealous Guy)

What was surprising and cool to hear was all the unrecorded stuff. usually just anywhere from 30 seconds to two minutes. Stuff that I'm not sure was ever finished or released.

Sounds soooo dated. Boring!!!
53 years old, and it still fits in like it could have been written today  It's hard to match the timeless brilliance of this album.
My fav Beatles song....side 2 of Abbey Road.
I absolutely love it when you play the whole side of abbey road!  I’m always moved back to my adolescence, and i always listen completely through
I had a great Craig 8-track player with home stereo speakers in my little Rambler station wagon in the early 70's. We parked in the shadows and stayed up all night listening to this over and over. Didn't take much to connect me to myself back in those days. Just music pushing shadows. Moving and breathing. Never lost in the darkness...
All of side 2, amazing!

RADIO PARADISE ROCKS!!!!!
As moving as it was when first played so so many years ago.  Lightning in a bottle.
It's just that this song is over 50 years old and it sounds brand new.

This song is better than anything new.

Everything is better: the lyrics, the vocals,  the musicians,  the sound engineering, the creativity,  the hooks,. Everything.

And the album cover! Still trying to figure it out! I thought Paul was dead!!!!
I am constantly in awe of the musical growth between Please, Please Me in '63 and their final album Abbey Road in '69. Six years!!!

Cripes, people, talking down to people over the Beatles is NOT A GOOD LOOK.  Don't be that guy or gal.  Especially if you are old, you're making all us old people look really bad.

You downvoted this on account of one person's opinion? That's harsh.
Because -> The rest of side 2. Perfect

A 3fer would be Here Comes the Sun -> Because->The rest of side 2

Not sure the issues with playing a whole side uninterrupted, but this 2 song segue rocks.
Simply genius.
How to make music.  In one album.
❤️
That was just what I needed. Many thanks

Eternal lesson of rock voice by Paul. Eternal lesson for every one. Orchestrarion, mastering the studio recording, And I will sing a lullaby.
Bill, you are awesome for playing the entire side. Like others have posted, this must be played in its entirety, to do otherwise would not be cricket, man
Just not a Beatles fan, doesn't mean anything other than they were so overplayed I got tired of listening to their songs.  Yet, a few like this one survive my ire since they weren't overbaked endlessly.
9 fucking years, 9. That's how long the Beatles played together.
Just tell me what other band has ever come close to leave a perennial mark like they did. Just incredible

Oh, that magic feeling. Nowhere to go.

Hands down the best album of the Beatles too. ..and Golden Slumbers nevers fails to deliver me goose bumps (or even tears when I sing along)

I have no problem with material that amazes, surprises, and intrigues. What I'm saying is, this doesn't do any of those things. It just confuses me.
The bass of Paul is so good. Love the sound of this album. My first real music sensation

How can anyone at least not admire these icons. Even my stuffy creative writing instructor compared much of the Beatles lyrics with T.S. Eliot and others. Who knows, maybe they took a few ideas from the old masters. Talk about prolific writing. Also must have been difficult for four dudes to get on as much time as they spent together. Eventually, it did fall apart, but not before massive amount of hits.
This is the best  side B of an album ever.
Goose bumps...
"Yeah yeah yeah"

I can hear a bit of Bread in there... I think they used one of those breaks.

Speaking of... BillG should throw some random Bread on RP just to see if it sinks or swims.

The Beatles suffered from perhaps too many creative ideas, which meant that some tracks had several different parts, sometimes only somewhat related. Just relax and enjoy this material that still amazes, surprises and intrigues fifty years after release.

I had never heard this until I first got to college over 30 years back in 1991. It was perfect then and perfect now...
I cannot have my health back... this creepy joke has been going on on my expenses too long for hideous personal treatment like a weird monster to bully and never recovering. I'm not mending any frindship, cause I've never had one, nor any relatieves, pls. what a bounch of clowns., but this is my fav beatles's song ever thank you for playing it- band aid calling. no where to land. and no one home. and none invited. not even an outside chance because of petty hoes on the perv show? thank you don't bother about my medical charts
Every time I listen to this it’s a wonder. Thank you, Beatles. Thank you, Bill.
Exactly!! How would you break this up! Well done, RP
GODLIKE!!! ICONIC!!!

If there's a more soul-touching song than this, I have not heard it. Stops me dead every time.

I can remember hearing this when I was about twelve or thirteen, so it would have been out for a year or so. I thought it was absolutely brilliant. This album is probably the gold standard above which no others can surpass.
50 years of Rock in 22 minutes.

GODLIKE!!!
Beatles Best music !!
Merry Christmas

Where did the 52 years go!  I'm sure it was only the day before yesterday or maybe las week when this was released!  In my head it just doesn't date!!

Turns out all the money's gone, nowhere to go, good thing Mean Mister Mustard has that Beat baby! He may be a dirty old man, and she may be Polythene Pam but Sunday's on the phone to Monday and Tuesday's on the phone to me, oh yeah! We may carry that weight a long time, but in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make!

Thanks Bill & Rebecca!!! This just makes me happy
Reading the comments for "Because" that played right before this, it seems it's a sacrilege to only play one song from side 2. Lo and behold here comes the rest of Side 2 in it's entirety (sans "Her Majesty"), well played.

BillG, you need to make a 3 "song" set of Here Comes the Sun->Because->You Never Give Me/The End.

LLRP!!

George, Paul and John (in that order) trading solos at The End is the best.  George's light touch, Paul's great melodic lines, and John (the rocker) digging in.  The only thing better is Paul's last lyric in what would become the last song of their last studio album, "And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make."  Brilliant.

I feel that they're telling us all that if rocking it hard on guitars had a place in what they were doing, they could have thrown it in at any point.  This lack of heavy soloes was something of a knock on George especially, as their lead guitar.
If you haven’t seen it, search for and watch “Eight Days a Week“ (directed by Ron Howard). It’s available on Prime TV.

Never/rarely seen footage, interviews, and priceless tidbits (e.g., refusing to play in Jacksonville, when they discovered the audience would be segregated, etc.!) Not a full anthology (how cool would THAT be?), this film focuses on the touring years only, but a mesmerizing, emotionally-charged rockumentary about these awkward boys from Liverpool being groomed (literally) into the world’s first Rock Superstars.

I’ve seen it a half dozen times and would gladly watch it a half dozen more.
If this isn’t a 10 nothing is
Oh, look out!
What a way to finish a career, my goodness...
Just so brilliant on so many levels. The instrumentation, the vocals and harmonies...man, this epitomizes the phrase "stands the test of time".
