Believer
Took me over like a fever
Caught you hiding in the smoke, smoke, smoke
Like a meteor I glow, glow, glow

Ooh, lay your red hand on me, baby
Ooh, ooh, as I go

Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning
Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning
Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning
Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning

Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?

Well I'll release her
From the bindings of her teachers
What they're hiding there is broke, broke, broke
Like the River Styx I flow, flow, flow

Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?
Whatcha gonna do when you get to the water?

Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning
Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning
Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning
Into the sea
Out of fire
All that burning

See, this is what I love about RP. I will be sitting at my desk, typing away on some TPS reports with The Main Mix on FLAC in my headphones, and then something in my brain will click and I realize that I have been listening to something - like this - that  would never have been in my usual rotation but absolutely slaps.
Been a while since I last listened to the YYY’s, love Karen’s voice. She gives so much energy to her songs. I like the drummer’s work too.
I'm gonna do this!

Seems like just yesterday the Yeah Yeah Yeahs made their 2009 appearance on Saturday Night Live.  I thought there was a chance they were going to hit it big, but I guess the country decided they preferred Lady Gaga, Adele, and Lil Wayne instead.

Regardless, this song is rock solid... Karen O is among the great musicians of our era.

Seems like just yesterday I saw them open for Sleater-Kinney (2 decades ago, wow I'm old)! From that day forward I will always love Karen O (and of course don't forget Nick Zinner and Brian Chase).
7 -> 8
the lyrics are wrong:

It’s not Out of fire
it’s OUT OF THE FIRE
YEAH YEAH YEAH! What a KILLER BAND! I've loved K.O.'s sassy Chrissie Hynde-kinda style, her contagious verve, and wild, unpredictable outbursts from the very beginning! Thanks, RP, for this new ROCKIN' STUFF!
Great band. Well worth catching live. The drummer is outstanding - just listen to his subtle work.

Welcome back to the music world Karen O and the YYYs.

As far as I'm concerned, and, IMHO of course... Karen O could sing outta the phone book, and MAKE IT SOUND GOOD!!! LOL Really awesome vocals on that screamer!

Yeah, yeah, yeahs. Late to them. Wonderful album.
Love the Enya-like atmosphere at the beginning and then the way the guitar ramps up.
You can stop playing this so often thank you very much.
I am late to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan club and they are really dynamic and fun!

Has a 60s soundtrack feel. Karen O sounds a bit like Shirley Bassey at points.

good call!
This is nice, suggest it for a Bond song
Gott Damn It
More fabulous tracks in this album. This is not my fav.
Such a great album!
Spoon "Hot Thoughts" followed by "Burning."  Nicely done, BillG!
This is great. Going to need to hear the rest of this album. If it's like this it will tide me over until the next album by the Heavy that I am already excited about after just one track.
OoOoooOoo SULTRY lyrics!!  me likey

Well, at least someone is still interested in creating some bangin' rock'n'roll... lots of energy here

Hell yeah yeah yeah, they're back!

See, this song proves it.  The Earth is flat.

Are you referring to the song or your fear of actually being understood?
Unmistakeably Karen O. So good.

Quite attachable... as the song progressed so did my rating. :-)
Welcome back to the music world Karen O and the YYYs.
Oh Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood.
A bit repetitive, but I liked it more than I expected to.

Promising to be a decent album - the first single is an absolute stormer (Spitting Off the Edge of the World) - welcome back! 👍
First!
