I took the train
Just for the view
I took my boyfriend's last name
For something to do
I took advice
Now I regret it
I took my time
Cause I could get it
I shook my head
And it woke me up
I shook a strange hand in my bed
And that was enough
I shook the truth
Out of the tree
It shook my faith up good
But it satisfied me
Anyway the main thing is
Regrooving the dream
Regroovng the
Love doesn't think
Love doesnt look
Love takes a flying leap off the brink
Love swallows the hook
Love doesn't sleep
Love is out of control
Love is only human it can swallow you whole
Just for the view
I took my boyfriend's last name
For something to do
I took advice
Now I regret it
I took my time
Cause I could get it
I shook my head
And it woke me up
I shook a strange hand in my bed

This reminds me of Ani dIFranco Emancipated Minor

I always like me some Patty Larkin! Added to my faves.
Thanks RP!
Thanks RP!
8>9 for the lyrics I never really listened to or read before.

I can't help but wonder if she has ever heard Prince?

Love the horns. Love this song. Love that RP is always making me get up and come to the computer to see who's doing some fantastic music I've never heard before. :)
And they're still doing it Isobel.
This is truly outstanding.

Contrary to what most of you have written, the horn riff in Patty Larkin’s ‘Anyway, the thing is’ is superb. It’s an excellent jazz riff and the dissonant structure is really creative. Very nice song. Nice work Patty! Who are the musicians in that horn section?

If you ever get a chance to see her live, do. She opened a solo show here in SLC years ago in a small venue and I was near the front. She sat there in an explosion of red hair and opened with “Rescue Me” and I wanted to shout “OK — I’m here! Let’s go!”
I seem to recall this from the film "Evolution", but my memory lists "Patti Smith".
Anyway, nice song.
Anyway, nice song.
Donna Summer sings circus music?
For a split second I thought this was Kate Bush. Great cut from Patty.

Horns nail it. Great vocal outro. Pretty damn perfect.
This has a great vibe, funky. And, I love the horns.
In a movie? What movie!?!?!?!?
first time hearing, bumped from 8 to 9 for the last minute's excellence, diversity, integration, linkage and quasi-resolution of the first beats.
Is it just me or do the first few notes of that horn in the background sound like a circus tune?
*Edit* - Just read the other comments... glad it's not just me.

WOW! Thanks once again Bill for a true GEM!
Love the music: the twang, the horns, the groove. Too bad the lyrics are trite and uninspired.
LOVE THE Horns... and! Can you hear a little Tori Amos... maybe Kate Bush in there?? Adore!!!
The riff is fantastic. It adds a level of confusion, deflation perhaps, to the story, it takes us on a ride, a journey. Might not be for everyone, but I think I get it.
This song is about 3 minutes too long, IMHO
Very cool
Sympatrically weird :-)

I'm sorry, that horn riff is too annoying.

Couldn't think what the horns reminded me of—finally remembered the Peter Gabriel song The Barry Williams Show has a similar horn riff

I have to say I struggled to get over the "pigs-in-a-blanket" comment. I do kind of like it myself.

Oops. Right vibe, wrong song.

The music reminds me PG "Steam"
Overall the song is not bad. Has a nice groove. But that horn is driving me batty.
that's horrible.
mmmmmmmmm, nice......
hmmm. I'm usually cranky so early in the morning, but this just went up from a 7 to an 8 - circus music or not.
This is somthing good
Woah, that was kool.

circus monkeys would probably dig this.....but only the coolest ones
Patty is the awesomest!! And nice choice, taking most of her contributions to your playlist from this album.
No way!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear circus music!
One of those tunes that works well in the background - you know it's there but it's not trying to monoplise your attention.
Cool lyric:
"I took my boyfriend's last name
For something to do"
"I took my boyfriend's last name
For something to do"
Lots of odd bits and pieces thrown together - and I mean that in a good way.
Reminds me of Bashia.
I'm not a fan of this.
Turned WAY the &%$# up. Yea, baby. Re-groove the dream.
Kind of reminds me of Grace Jones... a bit... anyways, cool tune!
Hey this is cool ... turning it up ...
"Regrooving the dream. . . "

How did you know I needed to hear this? Well, thanks.
Rarely do I get turned on by Bill's musical mantras, but this is kind of cool.
this tune makes me feel drunk
Disco still sucks.

I have a hazy recall of a similar riff in a Frank Zappa tune - "Don't eat that yellow snow" - or maybe its just the dormant THC suddenly affecting my brain.
Newbie to RP but loving every moment..definitely funky funky funky
This song gets an extra point for that neat horn fill.
First time hearing this!
LOVE IT!
(Sorry for yelling . . .)
Sexy, funky, yummy.
RP does it again, broadening my musical horizons.

Yeah what FlatCat wrote
Love it. This song takes me to a great place.
nice tune to drift off for a snooze on a boxing day afternoon. i mean that in a good way. repetitive, enchanting, not very demanding. (unless of course the horns hurt your ears)

Love this piece. What an great mood. And that horn riff is awesome! Short but intricate, tuneful, hard to learn, and leaves you hanging because it doesn't resolve. Yes, the bass is repetitive, but swings totally.
Not really loving this, but whatever, I can understand the attraction. Isn't the horn piece just a snippet from the circus theme we all know from childhood?
