I'm walking down your street again
And past your door, but you don't live there anymore
It's years since you've been there
Now you've disappeared somewhere, like outer space
You've found some better place
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
Could you be dead?
You always were two steps ahead, of everyone
We'd walk behind while you would run
I look up at your house
And I can almost hear you shout down to me
Where I always used to be
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
Back on the train, I ask why did I come again?
Can I confess, I've been hanging round your old address?
And the years have proved
To offer, nothing since you've moved
You're long gone, but I can't move on
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you
I step off the train
I'm walking down your street again
And past your door, I guess you don't live there anymore
It's years since you've been there
Now you've disappeared somewhere, like outer space
You've found some better place
And I miss you,
And I miss you,
You found some better place
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, yeah, like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, and I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, yeah, like the deserts miss the rain
The deserts miss the rain
Like the deserts miss the rain
Like the deserts miss the rain,
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you, yeah, like the deserts miss the rain
Oh, and this album as a whole is magnificent π
They are so flipping cool.
New album sooooo good too.
What great news!ππ
Your comment here prompted me to go check out and buy the new album, FUSE. Very cool & contemporary and more soulful than most other crap being blasted out trying to get a similar vibe. Never would have discovered this without RP -- thanks for posting and once again, thanks RP!
I like this. OTOH, I think this is one of the snarkiest threads I've ever seen on RP. :(
I'm shocked at the comments too. Appalling.
Love it or hate it........... nope, sorry, hate it, the cowbell and the ugly singer.
repetition is the cancer in popular music.
Comments like these are the cancer in this community.
does she have tits?
Well technically, everyone has them.
That's the 12" (club) mix. This version -- with cowbell galore -- is the original mix.
Sounds to me like the club mix...
...NEEDS MORE COWBELL!!
What great news!ππ
love this news!
those who know me, know i'm not a huge fan of female vocalists - though that is changing as i age, i find - but i've always loved this outfit's music. so, so good.
What great news!ππ
The best!! Have always loved their mellow vibe, so easy to listen to. Love Them.
The cover strangely instructed us not to pay more than 99p for it. Amazingly my friend and I with one copy each had covered nearly 3% of the total production costs of 138 pounds sterling! It was and still is my greatest investment.
What great news!ππ
Could use a little more cowbell.
lol, it totally ruined it for me, i was oblivious to it before it but since i discovered the cowbell meme i hear it every time :((
c.
this cowbell joke is getting a bit old imo.
c.
I disagree. The perfect amount of cowbell, for this song anyway.
I sense that the subtle joke here wasn't recognized.
More cowbell!
I disagree. The perfect amount of cowbell, for this song anyway.
does she have tits?
Do you have a brain?
Some music is so associated with people who are no longer in our life that the song resurrects them with every replay...
Music, smells, tastes leave memories stronger than any words...
so true (.....lapses into happy reverie....)
Ladys and Gentlemen, what does this mean?
Beautiful, how beautiful is her voice?
Bella, come bella Γ¨ la sua voce
Ladys and Gentlemen, what does this mean?
but but the deserts don''t miss the rain. thats why they're deserts.
I take it you've never seen what happens in a desert when it *does* rain.
A little less tambourine would be nice. Love the feeling this song invokes.
Why cant the desert miss the rain
does she have tits?
Such an inappropriate comment. I did laugh out loud, though.
Solid 8 here.
But it is lovely to hear the original aswell...
Edit: Wow, I sound so pedantic. Poetry doesn't need to be logical.
The lyrics, the production with those synths, the nostalgic-melancholic album cover, the guy-producer-and-girl-singing electronic music era.
A great love song. A 10 from this kid.
Why cant the desert miss the rain

Grew up on this and the Perfecto mix as well...
Young kid in the raves, blinded by the lights, dizzy new heights, kisses in the dark
LMAOπ
I've seen a desert, and I can tell just from looking: they miss the rain. Big time.

So then, does the ocean miss the heat?
The oceans get plenty of heat.
everything i put my faith in has been shook
Poetry is wasted on you
Stupidest lyric ever. The desert does NOT "miss the rain." Morons. 1.
Poetry is wasted on you
I see it as a metaphor for a longing for something you've never experienced, an aching in your heart & soul. It is like how I very occasionally get a very strong craving for alcohol (more precisely, to get drunk), yet the only thing I've ever had was a sip of PBR when I was six ("Hey, what's that?" "Have a little bit." "YUCK!").

Deserts miss the rain, but they learned to live with it. Every time after a rainfall, the desert bursts into bloom, so yes, even deserts miss the rain.
Deserts are not deserts of their choosing"Oh I think I become a desert" but by weather conditions.
The Sahara used to be an ocean, then a rain forest and is now a desert.
So the lyrics make sense after all.
So then, does the ocean miss the heat?
They are (anthropomorphized) deserts. But, with rain they become something else, something better. They would like for that to happen.

Funny, looks like I was thinking the same thing as Bobert_ParkCity. Only saw his comment afterwards. But that's what has always annoyed me about this song since the first time I heard it.
Desert don't miss the rain. Desert wouldn't What The —— to do with the rain.
Just sayin'
Some deserts might remember: during the Neolithic Subpluvial Era (from the 7th to the 3rd millennium BC), the area which is now the Sahara Desert was apparently green and fertile and experienced wet and rainy conditions. At least that's what the note in my fortune cookie said the other day.
Desert don't miss the rain. Desert wouldn't What The —— to do with the rain.
Just sayin'

Ditto!
repetition is the cancer in popular music.
So, you prefer attractive singers. How expansive.
Some music is so associated with people who are no longer in our life that the song resurrects them with every replay...
Music, smells, tastes leave memories stronger than any words...
Repetition is an essential component of all music. Name one song without some repetition of a phrase, beat, or progression - discounting John Cage's 4' 33".
Technically, it could be argued that 4'33" is the ultimate in repetition on the musician's part. At least the repetition of silence, which in turn makes the audience and the ambience in the performance arena vital portions of the performance. Would be even more interesting in today's world of personal electronics and microwave levels of ADHD.
