I blame it on myself 'cos i can't keep anything down, anything down,
However hard i do try,
So talk amongst yourselves while i try to figure it out, figure it out.
I'll let you know in my time.
And there's nothing to say 'cos i won't go through it.
And there's nothing to do 'till i put myself up to it.
However hard i do try,
So talk amongst yourselves while i try to figure it out, figure it out.
I'll let you know in my time.
And there's nothing to say 'cos i won't go through it.
And there's nothing to do 'till i put myself up to it.

I first heard this tune when I had DirecTV back in the mid 2000's. Loved it. As well as "Peanut Dream" I then went and downloaded the whole album. Almost every tune is a keeper. I then heard they had a second lp, A Drink and a Quick Decision, so I found it. Its good, but not as good as the debut. But thanks RP for playing it. You never fail to amaze me!

So so good. My wife mentions The Police when she hears them as well.. both albums by them are very solid.
Grand National's album, Kicking the National Habit, released in the UK in July 2004, has been in my music rotation for one year now, and I uploaded two songs to the library because they are a fantastic band who has not had much press in the States. If you like Kasabian, you'll love Grand National. Drink to Moving On is a funky rock tune, and Talk Amongst Yourselves is a full of trippy sounds and relaxing vocals. To read more about them, go to https://www.musiccapitol.blogspot.com and search in the May 2005 archives.

Yea, I always thought the cover and the name was fun, Kicking the National Habit, is probably a reference to footy ("soccer" in American). The bruise is where it would be if you were taking a free kick, cocked it up and was not wearing super expensive footy boots.

I wish this was in heavier rotation…. So good
If you like this song, for a change, try the 10min long Sasha remix.

Nifty tune, but still belongs in the Bad Album Cover Hall of Fame. Filed under "seemed like a good idea at the time".

LOVE these guys. I have a few of their tunes on my phone for the gym. Love the synths.
i haven't heard this in forever. so good
Excellent!

the intro sounds like something from Animusic.
Lekker! Tot ziens!!
So there's finally a song where a puking emoticon would fit the lyrics, and no one posts it.
Who's better, Grand National or The National?
Greeat DRIVING Beat! Excellent!!

I love this song. This track and Bulidings and Mountains by Republic Tigers have a similar repetitive catchiness that appeals to the child inside. Very cool.
'Sactly what I was thinking. First listen. Yummy. Sold! I just came in here to post that. Get outta my head!

Been in my regular rotation for over a year. Excellent track!
Sounds like Tangerine Dream backing up nice vocals!!
This is such an unlikely song to make my "favorite of the week". This gets a 10. I'm even gonna request a replay from bill. Yay

Tawk amongst yahselves....
had a childhood Steve Miller flashback there for a sec - it's ok, i'm back now.
The Sasha remix blows this (original?) out of the water... check it out.
7-->8!
play it loud
A perfect blend of sequencers and real guitar (and a great driving song, to boot). Give it a 9.
love, love, LOVING this song right now! I like how this band touts themselves as a cross between Depeche Mode and Hall & Oates. What a combo!
Yeow! Is that a big bruise on that foot? She must have kicked the habit's ass!
Nah, the song is far preferable to those legs.......
very charismatic

Apprently, she, uh, kicked something. Left a mark.
Sounds similar to:
I'm alone
sitting with my empty glass
my four walls
follow me through my past
I was on a Paris train
I emerged in London rain
and you were waiting there
swimming through apologies
oy, im plotzing.
someone already got it.

Ah (lightbulb goes off above head), that explains the name. I thought it referred to the annual horse race at Aintree and was all about to come out with rash puns about falling at the first, etc. It's sort of ok, but unremarkable - as the other poster said, it starts off fizzy then just, well, fizzles damply. A 4.
Despite the energetic opening, this is a rather boring song.

I think it is quite good. Finally, a retro sound that isn't just a lazy retread.

now that you mention it... this sounds a bit like side two of "Ghost in the Machine" (Secret Journey; Darkness; etc) - that rather ethereal sound that Andy Summers had on the guitar.

!! Funny. My favorite was when Steve Martin introduced him on SNL as "Stingy."

Great song with thick, rich rhythms and harmonies. I enjoy it every time I hear it.
Clean up on Aisle 6!
I really like this song. Maybe I've said it before. I don't know. It's hard to see past the COMMENT THAT BROKE THE BOARD!
fcatalao, please edit your comment. Or BillG, please fix it, if you are reading this.

The beginning of this song reminds me of "Risky Business".
Was just listening to this album at home this morning. It's a pretty good one.

Kinda puts me in the mind of some of the keyboard riffs in "Baba O'Reilly" and that other Who song - the name escapes me, I think it's "Eminence Front."

I agree...it's one of those songs that goes well while you're "in the zone" - though I don't know how my opinion would differ should I listen to this undistracted.
