100 days, 100 nights to know a man's heart
100 days, 100 nights to know a man's heart
And a little more before he knows his own

You know a man can tell apart
of the same, just so long
for a day come, when his true,
his true self and all, yes it does
he may be mellow, he may be kind
treat you good all the time
but there's something just beyond
what he's told

100 days, 100 nights to know a man's heart
100 days, 100 nights to know a man's heart
and a little more before he knows his own

Wait a minute
maybe I need it to slow it down,
take my time...

Hmmm, I had a man (100 days)
tell me things (100 nights)
oh made me feel (100 days)
just like a queen (100 nights)
and I thought (100 days)
he was the one (100 nights)
I would hope, oh yes I did (100 days)
but one day, I looked around (100 nights)
that old man was nowhere to be found (100 days)
100 days for his heart (100 nights)
to unfold, (100 days)
100 days (100 nights)
100 nights (100 days)
to know a man's heart (100 nights)
100 days, 100 nights to know a man's heart (100 days)
and a little more before he knows his own
(100 days 100 nights 100 days 100 days 100 nights)

Boy, I miss you, Sharon. I miss your voice, energy and positive disposition.
There was a very good documentary done on her in 2015.
Just made me like her even more.
RIP gone way too soon

You lucky duck.  I wish that I could have been there too!
I feel like this song has not been in the regular rotation for a while. This is the first time I've heard it on RadioParadise. it's hot!

Beautiful!
RIP Sharon; a soaring voice taken way too soon.
Definitely NEED more Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. Let her rip!!

If you go to the BBC radio 'sounds' player (1,2, 3 or 4) you might notice that the volume goes up to 11 - another broadcaster who knows how to please!

This gets the volume it deserves!!
Awesome duet performance w/ Sharon and Tedeschi Trucks Band:

Wow! I thought this was from the 60s! Authentic sound. Like it.

Sure don't want to live in your older man world!
Oooh, that was one heck of a smooth segue from the Pink Panther Theme to this. Well done!

Smooth segue aside, Sharon Jones is superb. Saw her live  at our local Jazz Fest a couple years ago, excellent show.
Coming into this from Mancini and Pink Panther theme...genius mixing there Bill👍. First time hearing this and it’s pretty good
I’ve seen her live many times in Brooklyn. She’s the female version of James Brown. Silly good. Electric

sounds pretty old school...

That's...amazing. They really nailed the 60s soul sound. I thought this was Back In The Day.
Tell em Sharon
She has a ways to go to catch Sceherazade.
Not my taste!
What a great voice!
Total powerhouse in concert.
Absolutely fantastic {#Clap}
Hot and sexy.
why is this the only song we ever hear from her on Radio Paradise?

i like her sound, a modern take on 50's/60's soul/blues. Not seen her live but if you like this check out Eli 'Paperboy' Reed, he and his band are fantastic live. Charles Bradley is another getting plaudits and some guy in a hat, Gregory porter?

She is great live, and full of relentless energy.

I vote for more, too!
As great as this song is, it doesn't compare to her to her live show.

love this, but I love the blind boys doing it more.
Every time this starts, I hope it is one of those new songs from St. Vincent and David whatshisname.  Byrne. That's it.
Going to see them tomorrow night!

Bill probably does this song no favors by pairing it with The Spinners.  That lush Gamble-Huff production puts the spotlight on the Faux in this Faux-retro stuff.   I'd like to hear what Sharon Jones could do without the trickery.

Where is the "faux"? I heare no faux...
Hope you are dealing well with the cancer treatments Sharon and hope to see you  in concert again this next summer.
Saw her on Live from Daryl's House and really liked her and her music.  Let's hope she can beat the cancer and get back on stage soon.

One of the most energetic shows I've seen in a very long time ... LOVE Sharon!!
Love it!
Get well soon, Sharon Jones!

why only this one song by her? I like it, and would like to hear others...
They are so terrific! Would you believe, they couldn't get a company to sign them? Better for them, they formed their own company and make the music that they want to make.

Saw them in person, and they were fantastic, and the little old lady that opened for them was amazing.
What a great track from such an amazing modern artist. Nobody sounds like this anymore, you gotta hand it to Sharon Jones for holding true to a solid sound in today's autotune-drenched, music environment.
SXSW playlist?  it's mad here in ATX
Lotta truth to this one!!  ;)
That's Numberwang!
love this song. but yeah, nothing better than seeing her and them live!!!

She was pretty much the most awesome thing ever live. Look her up and get to a show.
Fantastic, just fantastic. Best band ever to see live. Ms. Jones is amazing
Great Stuff!

My wife and I saw Sharon and the Dap Kings last summer; great show, tight band, and very high energy and vocals from Miss Sharon.
Good example of something I'd so much rather hear live than hear here. Here x2. Oh well...you get my drift. {#Bananajam}

This is an excellent CD and her most recent one, that came out last year, is also very good (can't remember the name of it offhand, "The Hard Way," maybe....)
I'd like to hear more from her

Yeah...  that was a good idea.  Marry an emotional chick with a degree in communication.  That way, even if I do win the argument, I still lose...  Ah well, she's worth it.

I only listen to RP for the comments {#Rolleyes}

Just saw them live - Dynamite!!  More Dab Kings, please!

I rated this outstanding some years ago......still a favourite to me!
I am going to see Miss Jones and the Dap-Kings in January!
Yay me.
Terrific classic soul - driving backbeat, brassy voice, melancholy lyrics. What's not to like? 8 from the Nottingham jury.
A good track from a fantastic band. Second coming of the James Brown Revue. And then some. If you ever get the chance to see these cats live, don't pass it up. Absolutely amazing live.

I was wrong—actually had bad information. Yes, Daptone is in Brooklyn—I've since acquired all their releases. Very cool stuff. Winehouse used their studio to record Back to Black because, if I recall, the studio's entirely analog and renders that warm, fuzzy '60s sound. Thanks for pointing out the errors.

Also, the Dap-tones featured prominently on that "Back to Black" album, as well as on Marc Ronson's "Version", etc.
Many artists want to bask in their Dap-dippin' coolness

Agreed! And greetings to a kindred Lyle Lovett fan! {#High-five}
Sharon Jones appeared on SNL with Michael Buble. When I first heard they were on together I thought WTF, but they cooked pretty well together. Sharon Jones is the real deal, baby.

Edit: I fixed my screw-up. Thanks Scott!

I am really digging this.
The real thing - luv it!  If I ever have a chance to catch her live, I won't pass it up.
If you catch the rerun of their turn on Austin City Limits, you'll see Sharon Jones can GET DOWN.

At this point, I'm assuming that the lack of any other songs on the playlist, and 4 of them rejected on the LRC, means that this lady is a one-trick pony. And a pretty ho-hum trick, at that.

This singer and group are NOT a one-trick pony.
I don't know what's been rejected on LRC, but one of my favourites is "How Do You Let a Good Man Down?" from "Naturally".
Great vocals to very funky/soul music. A very tight-playing band, with echoes from Stevie Wonder, Fela Kuti, and perhaps some James Brown. Fan-tas-tic tune.

We want more!

Yeah don't listen to that Excelsior guy, everybody else here is learning not to, he's a waste of everybody's bandwidth! Nothing better to do than hang out on internet forums slagging bands and the station off, presumably trying to get a rise out of their fans.

I agree, Sharon Jones and her band are wonderful live and when I saw them the entire set was solid and fantastic to dance to.

Caught Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings live last week... they tore it up in impressive fashion. She is a little firecracker up there, and incredibly interactive with the crowd - bringing fans up to sing with her on multiple occasions. The band was huge and very very good.

Catch them live if you can!

Oh, and she was super friendly after the show signing CD's and the very fitting Vinyl LP's they were selling there. Had to pick it up for a spin on the ol' record player.
oh yeah.....
just listened to this in my car this morning. yeah, man.

!fantastic!  this song "burns"......-  ** 9 **

If I LOVE this and missed it the first time around, what other artists do I need to check out??

AMEN to that.
Just an FYI as an extra bonus when you buy this disc, you get Binki Griptide's GhettoFunkPowerHour show! A whole other disc with a mix of songs from DapTone Records' artists. Really sweet. I highly recommend this album, just great blues/funk grooves with excellent vocals from Ms. Jones.

Dap Kings? Do they wear daps then? Daps: UK Westcountry term for old-style gym shoes, known elsewhere as plimsolls or pumps. Not so commonly seen these days with the rise of trainers (Americaish: sneakers). As in the expression "They's me daps, mind!" Oh yes, the song: Good to hear some real R&B fighting back against the cheap, nasty plastic "RnB".
