People I got wolves' blood in my veins
I live way out in the woods
People you know I've got wolves' blood in my veins
Well you know the crocodiles and the foxes and the grizzles
They all know me by my name
When I was just a little boy
I used to play around with rattlesnakes
Well, when I was a little boy
I used to crawl around in the grass with rattlesnakes
Now I'm a full grown man
Alligators is my associates
Let me explain this
I still live way out in the woods
People you know I ain't afraid of nothin'
I live way out in the woods
An people you know I ain't afraid of nothin'
The bogeyman start runnin'
When he heard me commin'
I sleep with one eye open
And I don't ever leave no trail
Well yeah I sleep with one eye open
And I don't ever leave no trail
If you come into my woods
You just might, loose your tail
'Cause I love them tails
Fox tails
Pig tails
Instant 7 (to get on my favourites), to be revisited..
!wow!
Robert Randolph is no slouch either!
I Agree!! There is one GREAT TUNE by him on the RP Playlist!
When I was just a little boy
I used to play around with rattlesnakes
Well, when I was a little boy

Because the whole idea of the comment section is to like comment. It says it right up there . See?
Don't be so damn condescending.
Having been to the '84 World Fair in New Orleans, which makes me an expert, I can say that there are no grizzlies in Louisiana. I believe this is a case of poetic license.

I was lucky and blessed to see Buddy Guy jam TWICE, in ONE DAY, in KC, during a particularly memorably wild visit for blues, booze, and barbecue... I saw him JAM under The Liberty Memorial, with Koko Taylor, Albert King, so many Blues greats, and then, later, at The Blues Emporium, and, wow, I thought I'd died and gone to Blues Heaven. Buddy Guy is The Man, and I'll nominate his Immortality!
I saw him at the King Eddy in Calgary, AB.CA
There are no crocodiles either - only alligators, but of course he's being figurative, not writing a script for a National Geographic documentary. Nice stuff by Randolph on this.
Mom, what's a metaphor?
"My life is a train wreck".
I know mum, but what's a metaphor?

And the ragged guitar sound is so ... done.
Of course there's blues-based rock-n-roll which I do like.
So I don't care for the root, but I'm more into the fruit.

Because this is the comment section where listeners are invited to express their opinions about the song being played. In this case, the listener expresses an opinion and a reason for said opinion. Better than "this sucks" or "my ears are bleeding". Now quit being so condescending and understand that not everyone may share your point of view about everything. I'll bet that you aren't such an ass with your co-workers when they disagree with you. Try using that same sense of decency here. And try some listening and understanding. It'll make the world a nicer place.

dude you dont desreve to eat the fruit....you have a full stomach and dead ears

I'd like to be poetic. What's a poetic license cost in Louisiana?
Awesome voice and guitar.
Don't be ridiculous! He's clearly imitating Bono
He's right, the blues did get predictable. But if you go back to the originals--Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson et al. you will find all the weirdness and haunting beauty you could possibly desire. IMO, the only modern artist in the rock genre that is a worthy heir is Captain Beefheart (listen, for example, to Glider on the The Spotlight Kid). As for more recent blues artists I'll add Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, Sonny Boy Williamson--both of them--and maybe a few others.)
A few others, like.... BUDDY GUY?
Ha! Ha! I was reading this just as his "sneezing fit" began. So funny. :-)
HUH? WTF?
the genre needs new blood.......
So cynical.

Every January Buddy plays at his club in Chicago.
Get your tickets in advance.
I'm not your Buddy Guy!"
and we care because?
He Bigfoot everyone's looking for , that's why πππ
He was sitting at end of bar, talking with patrons, including me. Very friendly and easy going guy.
Buddy Wonders sounds like a great stage name to me!
I bumped this to a 10, the song is probably only an 8, damn that playing is worth at least a +2 so yeah....Long Live RP!!

You just didn't go to the right places.
He's talking about living in the swamp - that would be somewhere in Louisiana, USA.

To each his own, but a mean ol' blues riff is fine by me.
And I would not call this rhyming predictable:
"I used to crawl around in the grass with rattlesnakes
Now I'm a full grown man
Alligators is my associates" !

Agreed. Just raised my rating if this song from 7 to 8.
Um, Buddy Guy is still alive and performing pretty regularly.
Yes.
ELI5: There is a "formula" for every type of music. That's how we have more than one type of music.

Buddy is not resting, but has a new CD release party (and birthday party) planned for next week.
A treasure, see him if you get a chance, because nobody lives forever.
But he's dead now.
No, no, there's blues stations all over the internet for that. Here on RP it sounds like a history lesson, " Sherman, set the way back machine for WAY, WAY BACK, you know, before everybody here was born."
God invented blues music so that middle aged white people would think they can dance.
No, God invented blues so white folks could morph it into rock and roll.

Buddy Guy helped write the damn formula, he's entitled to use it.
Line by line:
1. Introduce topic
2. Repeat first line
3. Variation on first line. Add "Oh" and "baby" and "you know" for variety. Hit a syllable or word you didn't hit in lines 1 and 2
4. Repeat first line
Yes. How about the occasional Paul Butterfield or John Mayall? Keep up my nostalgia levels...
This is the first Buddy Guy song I've heard where he doesn't stop playing to pat himself on the back for his playing.
I've read that Buddy Guy tried to reach for a wider audience and wound up pandering...according to some. Some of his tracks make me cringe because the singing and playing is so OTT. But check out his Wikipedia page: all the big-name guitarists have great praise for Buddy.
And yes, JrzyTmata and Bizarrefall are right: RP needs Robert Randolph.
Yes, and yes. In this case, very well, imo.

I ain't your Guy, Friend...
