Will you be a satanist with me?
Mortgage off your soul to buy your dream
Vacation home in Florida:
The collateral the devil's repossessing from me
Trying to score some off-brand ecstasy

Will you be an anarchist with me?
Sleep in cars and kill the bourgeoisie
At least until you find out what a fake I am
Spray-paint my initials on an ATM
I'd burn the cash and smash my old TV

Will you be a nihilist with me?
If nothing matters, man, that's a relief
Solomon had a point when he wrote Ecclesiastes
If nothing can be known, then stupidity is holy
If the void becomes a bore, we'll treat ourselves to some self-belief

Oh, you know what I should do

You wonder
If you can even be seen
From so far away
A slow pull, a seismic drift
Leaning over the edge of a continent
It's so hard to come back
You hang on until it drags
You under
You under
You under
You under

I normally keep my negative opinions to myself, but this is one band I just don't get. Satellite radio played their one song Not Strong Enough from this same album over and over until I was sick of it. Now anything I hear from them has an immediate  strike against it. This song is just bland and uninteresting to these older ears. I guess maybe the kids dig 'em. Maybe I'm just getting crotchety. "Hey, boygenius! Get off my lawn!"

old ears.. have 20 something daughters and this is top of the list and on repeat.. I personally very much enjoy it, but may spend more time listening in this bracket to help my ears adapt!
I really enjoy the drums in this song, as well as the rockin music
uhm... it starts well, than it has a negative peak of energy... it results too long. Skip !
One of the most popular records in Boulder right now! Can't wait to see them when they come through; hopefully soon!
This band played SNL and I struggled to see the point. They were quite unimpressive, sounded weak, and as I had never heard of them, puzzled as to why they were there. This piece is not helping
8 for the lyrics.

Your older ears have finally reached 'Peak Old-Man Curmudgendom'. I recently realized I'd entered that stage because I've never had a problem with Laurie Anderson using a vocalizer but I get annoyed when I hear Billy Eillish using it. Not sure there's anything we can do about it. Just hope the kids remain tolerant and don't start hauling us off to rehabilitation camps.

Love the outro! I had to check to see if the song had changed.
I don't really have an opinion on the song, which seems ok.  But apparently boygenius is a "supergroup" ... of the three members I've only heard of Phoebe Bridgers, and she's not exactly a household name, is she?  Back in the day a supergroup was Cream, or The Travelling Wilburys ... ach, I'm getting old.  Well, I am old.

And does he?
decent, until the ending, then acceptable
Pretty cool sound, good to hear it here.   Phoebe Bridgers and the other two members of this band have all done some nice solo work as well.

And William just followed this up with First Aid Kit!
If this was a neighborhood bar band, cool. But it’s not, so, no.

This made me walk in from the other room to see who it was. I'm going to have to make it a point to listen to more!

To this point, in the sequence I'm listening to, Satanist was immediately followed by the Smashing Pumpkins "Drown," from 1992 - thirty years earlier! And it's a perfect fit and flow. Great DJ'ing, RP.

A cacophony of sonic gibberish.
Very cool

The sound is quite ... er ... old-fashioned.  Which isn't a value judgment, just an observation.  I can't see myself buying the record on the strength of this track, which I think is maybe a minute too long.
