Made me sit up and notice on a misty northwest morning... no idea what she is saying, but it's always the melody and delivery that capture me first anyway, and it's going straight to my mp3 player. Læti is from Guadeloupe (Caribbean). Fatoumata Diawara (the other vocalist) is from Mali.
SUPPLEMENTAL (three weeks later):
Found the native lyrics (https://genius.com/Fm-laeti-coco-feat-fatoumata-diawara-lyrics) and ran them through a translator tool. Læti's lyrics are registering as Haitian Creole - spoken also on Guadeloupe - but it has trouble with Diawara's though there is some French sprinkled in. Last.fm puts the release date at 2011.
BeatCrave says this: "The song opens with the enchanting voice of Laeti, singing in Creole, a language spoken on the island of Guadeloupe. The lyrics speak of someone leaving, trying to find themselves elsewhere. Laeti likens herself to a mermaid, a tiny hummingbird, breaking free and crossing the ocean, searching for freedom and love... The chorus sung by Fatoumata Diawara brings in a different energy... 'Little coconut, high up there, I’m on my way to you.' These lines evoke a feeling of longing and yearning for a special someone who is far away. The repetition of 'coco' adds a rhythmic element to the song, making it catchy and easy to sing along."
Ditto on the "8", philonair and antonini.duje. Kudos to WG.

Oh, how sweet and charming this is. I start with a sev..., an eight!

Same here.
pretty
I had only graded this a 7.... Dunno if it was 1st listen, not catch whole song but, just did and, bumped it to a 9, instantly! BEAUTIFUL voice and, it's beautiful in French... Sounds like it would be a nice song sung in American English! Thnx RP!
Nice one. Singer has an interesting and versatile voice. Admittedly though, I'm a pushover for anything sung by a woman in French!

I wish I was somewhere as warm as the music feels....
