Well as of 9/22/2020, the number of '4' ratings is up to eight.  But...  That is only 4.4% overall.  And that's only 2 fours.  So you should only be half as afraid of it as before.

Lol... the date is currently 9/17/2020, and there are in fact 13 '4' ratings.. but it's still 4.4% overall :)

Finally!  Proof that time travel is possible.

Cracked me up. Most clever, you avoiderer, you.

Like the whole thing - kind of hypnotic - and especially the percussion. Rated it '7' but probably would bump it to an '8' with more listenings. Next song is coming in along the same lines - nice segue, Bill.
Bolero-ish bass line. I kept expecting a slow crescendo. In fact, the opposite happened and left me feeling that the song ended a bit flat/lifeless.

I find it ironic that this song has four '4' ratings.

Meh
That's what I thought......
Nice piece of music.

Raise your hand if you rated it lower than 6 and you can play one note of ANYTHING!

in an effort to not upset that delicate balance, I rated it 3.

it's even more ironic that it has three "3" ratings

You are right. I think that thought comes from the repeating bass line - a hallmark of Massive Attack. I'd heard of Lamb, but I had never heard anything they produced. This particular piece is pretty cool. Verging on "Ambient," but still cool. Unfortunately, after clicking the Amazon.com link and listening to samples from the rest of the album, I would have to give the rest of the album (made in 1999) a big thumbs down. No comparison at all to Massive Attack or any of the other better Electronica groups. Clicking on the "Lamb" link on Amazon.com to see their total catalog shows that not much new has appeared since this album - mostly remixes and "best of" and compilation albums. "Between Darkness and Wonder," released in 2003, is their last, and fourth album. Here is one fan's take of where the group has gone -
Not as good as I'd hoped, March 4, 2004 Reviewer: Simon Booth (UK) - See all my reviews So the US finally gets Lamb's 4th album, about a year after it came out in the UK and without the 3 bonus tracks of the UK release. Oh well, better that than never :) Having had quite some time to get to know the album, I've still not really grown fond of it. I find that Lamb are like that - on first listen each album might not seem so special, but the more you listen to it and get to know the songs the more special it becomes. However, I've found that since their stunning debut album each successive release has taken longer to appreciate and still not quite reached the same heights. It may be that in time I'll really grow to love Darkness & Wonder, but so far I just think it's OK. The album is definitely Lamb's mellowest effort to date - part of what makes the band so interesting is the extreme contrast between the styles and interests of the two main members - Andy is into full on drum and bass experimentalism and Louise is into much mellower and more melancholy material. The mix and interaction of these two elements is what makes their best songs so interesting. On BD&W it seems that Andy has taken something of a back seat and the material is more of a showcase for Louise's style and interests. The beats still have a place but there's nothing as frantic or schizophrenic as the classic COTTON WOOL, for instance. The songs are still well written, but the album is a little too... tranquil, for my tastes, overall. It works well as background music or music to fall asleep to, but when I put it on at work it usually slips so much into the background that I forget I'm listening to it. Still a good album, and one that may even win them new fans, but I don't think it's of the same interest level as their first, second or third CDs.

Sounds like the soundtrack to a "Kung Fu".... episode
At first I thought this might be something new from massive attack …
AHHHHHHHH. NO!
Thought it was early Brian Eno. Sounds so similar to his style. Nice.
This track is so not representative for the album.
This could easily have been found on Peter Gabriel's "Passion". Nice....
Holy crap! That sounds a lot like Amon Tobin's style, off his album, Supermodified...whao...very nice though!
ooooooh , I l i k e . :sunny.gif:
Amazon thinks this is Lamb of God and Genesis. Sorry, that's just kind of funny. Anyway, this song sounds pretty weird so far. Abstract noise with a jazzy drumbeat. Interesting. edit: Also very SHORT!

Can you trace the history or otherwise back up your surmise? I would also LOVE to hear Soft Machine!
Not bad--not Tangerine Dream, but not bad.

Near total hypnosis! The 5/4 rhythm carried by the bass is steady yet the downbeat is so soft that the structure seems open, when it\'s really not. That element right there is enough to hypnotize the listener. Add the spacey textures and understated vocals and you\'re out in never-never land. My rating: 7
