Tilling my own grave to keep me level
Jam another dragon down the hole
Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren
One that pushes me along and leaves me so

Desperate and ravenous
I'm so weak and powerless over you

Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom

Desperate and ravenous
So weak and powerless over you

Little angel go away
Come again some other day
The devil has my ear today
I'll never hear a word you say
He promised I would find a little solace
And some peace of mind
Whatever, just as long as I don't feel so

Desperate and ravenous
I'm so weak and powerless over you
Desperate and ravenous
So weak and powerless over you

Wow — similar polyrhythms in this and the preceding Smashing Pumpkins song (Violet Rays).  Just realized I've spent the past several minutes toe-tapping and lap-drumming to this awesome playlist!

Edit: I've never really been a fan of Tool or A Perfect Circle, but seriously is every APC song in 3/4 or 6/8 time?  It's been sort of a game I've played with myself for the last 15+ years probably; every time I hear a song by A Perfect Circle I think, "Is it in 3/4 or 6/8?  Yup, sure enough it is."

I know I've heard some stuff by Tool that is pretty out there time-wise but don't think I've heard anything but threes from APC.  Really liking the polyrhythms here though.

Deliciously creepy/funny album cover.

Cannot change this FAST ENOUGH. Terrible.

Huh?
Bill G:  play some Tool.  You know you want to...

This song seems to change its time  - 6/4 and 6/8.  Yeah, the polyrhythms are cool.  A lot of Keenan's songs are in unusual time signatures but not all "threes".  Some of them have sections of 5/8, 7/8, 11/8, etc.  "Schism" by Tool has a number of unusual time changes.
This song sounds more like Tool than APC. Anyway, I do like
both groups and an occasional  play on RP sounds good....

Disgusting CD cover, never saw that before, but saw this band a couple times and I LOVE hard rock, so they had me at "Hello Los Angeles"

What a stupid statement.
What has this song got to do with a religion ?
Totally inappropriate ...

Was that your t-shirt in Pulp Fiction?
Incredible record. 10.
There's nothing actually wrong, Maynard, per se, with 4/4.
Wow, I may like Maynard's work with Perfect Circle better than Tool. Maybe. Maybe a stretch.
Kill me now.
Bill your segues kill me (in a good way.)  From Billy's Pumpkins to Maynard's APC.... kudos.
Maybe in these times we need some Tool. Enema would be a f-i-n-e addition.
100
Check out "Blood Into Wine" - it's a movie about what Maynard James Keenan has been up to for the last while.
You sound like my son..He's an audio engineer..His mind is so precise at dissecting each song!  must be in your DNA  MJdub wrote:

Strangely, this got me through a dark time...
Still love his voice and sound after all these years!
This is tight and produced sounding, but good. Thanks RP for playing such an acute variety.
this made my monday morning, thanks!

Amazing song from a great Album... Maynard has an awesome voice {#Cool}

Really overcompressed!  Makes it sound small.

It's the "loudness wars" again - bands, engineers, and producers thinking that an album pushed to high compression will sound louder over the 'net or FM play. Fact is though that it becomes very fatiguing to the ear, and/or can make an otherwise good recording sound like crap.

Some of the very best engies like Bob Ludwig and Greg Calbi however try to mix with more natural dynamics, and all you have to do to hear the music louder on any playback system is of course - turn up the volume!

No, figured it out on Feb 5, 2007, seven months prior to your post, and two months after having listened to for the first time, and joining RP.
First time i hear this. But not bad. Like this!

Tool was first. Lead singer of Tool was one of the founding members of APC.

I love just about everything Maynard gets involved in and A Perfect Circle is just another great example. We saw Tool a couple of years ago and it was by far one of the best shows I've seen. Just freakin awesome.
*big smiles*
I was just going to say that this song is kinda Doves-like in its sound and here Bill follows it up with a Doves song.

This is pretty cool, but please, no Tool.....

Most truly depressed folk are so consumed with being depressed that they don't have the energy to be an a-hole.  I think yours may have been a poseur.

As for the tune...works for me.  From the looks of the comments below it's a good thing I have no idea who this band is.

A Perfect Circle on Radio Paradise, amazing!!! Well done Bill!! How about a bit of Tool...go on, I dare you.

But just as you take me up to the heavens with APC, you have to go an pee on me chips with Dildo! Oh why Bill, why?

Why no TOOL?!?!?
Fantastic! Thanks RP!
YEAH!!!
I am fervently praying that the yellow slug did NOT just emerge from her nose.
Look out for that giant yellow slug on your face!
This is nice!
This gets a 7 for interesting album cover anyways.
Oh HELL YEAH!!! I LOVE this song... anything with Maynard gets me ALL excited!! Rock on Bill, thanks for bringing them back into rotation!
once again, YES!!!!

Sweet!!!
A Perfect Circle have never quite clicked with me maybe I'm just missing that certain level of angst that seems to be required for Tool/A Perfect Circle fans...?
Ahhh, a fresh breath of angry air, love it. Nice change from that last depressing song.

Ditto. I never thought I'd hear this on the RP. As far as Vienna Teng, I like her but that track is a little sleepy for me right now. How about some Tool?

I was going to say, "you're going to catch flak for playing this", but I see it's already there... Too bad -- the key to RP is the mix. Yes, this would kill me if it was FM, as I would inevitably hear it over and over -- so... I don't listen to FM! Decent side project from the Tool boys -- edgy, but not so dark... Thanks RP... again...

Excuse the hell out of me but I've never heard Maynard uttered anywhere near the Brit. Don't know what FM station you've been listening to dude.
That was fantastic. The whole song you are tense because you're sure he's going to break in to something from Aenema, and he walks right up to it but doesn't. Go RP!
One of the few bands around today that has a distinctive and original sound. More of these guys please Bill!
Wonderful Song... Sexy, Smooth, and Raw. Great to hear on RP!

awesome to hear APC on RP.. whats next.. TOOL maybe?? lol..
Love them - and Tool - for all their creative and musical prowess. Keep 'em coming.
A Perfect Circle? Why is Radio Paradise being so fantastic this morning? I love it!
Thank you for playing this. I love the "kinder and gentler" Maynard. :)
