I was taking every hit from you
you drive by shooting son of a bitch, and I'm done
Oh whoa, I'm done
Who told you you could rewrite the rules, and do you
really take me for a goddamn fool 'cause I'm done,
Oh whoa, I'm done
And you can drag me out before some authority
If that's what you have to do to feel like you can punish me
but I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't keep the peace anymore
With your dogs, with your dogs, at my door
You've been punching my weaknesses, slandering my name
you spent all your time trying to place your blame, and I'm done
Ohhh, I'm done
I used to think I owed the best part of me to soothe the holes in your life and the cracks in your seams I'm done
Oh whoa, I'm done.
And I'm sorry that you don't like your life
I fought for my own victories and for the beauty in my life
My joy, my joy, my joy takes nothing from you
no, my joy, my joy takes nothing from you
[guitar solo]
Well, you criticize my numbers, you hammer out the rules
wait for me to fuck up, and find yourself some proof
and I'm done
Oh whoa, I'm done.
You just soak in the hatred of a sorry line
yeah, you hide behind decorum and a fake smile,
and I'm done
Oh whoa, I'm done
And you can drag me out before a judge in authority
if that's what you have to do to feel like you can punish me
but I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't keep the peace anymore
With your doubts, with your doubts, in my door
Well I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't keep the peace anymore
With your dogs, with your dogs, at my door
you drive by shooting son of a bitch, and I'm done

I thought Natale Merchant, too.
I was surprised that nobody said this sounds very 10,000 Maniacey.

Have I not heard the 'fuck' up version on here? 'Mess' up is a bit jarring

I loved the "Be Good Tonyas" the minute I heard them do a cover of "Waiting Around To Die"...written by Townes Van Zandt.....I just love their version of that classic song.I was especially impressed with one of the members of the Be Good Tonyas....she had such a distinctive voice. That artist was Frazey Ford.I've followed her ever since.
Didn't she testify against Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearings before congress?
This is a really, really great song. The lyrics are terrific.

Sounds like Natalie Merchant's little sister. But it's okay.
Wow, that's an incredible voice! Instantly recognizable, largely unique, and capable of going very, very far. I like this latest work of hers!
Superb. Instant enjoyment for my ears. 8 straight out of the box. Thanks RP.
She seems to be recovering slowly but steadily from her stroke.
Glad to hear she's getting that washing-machine-spin-cycle vibrato under control. But it's still too much for me.
I saw an insider dog the other day
today he followed me the the valley below.

Reminiscent of Maria McKee

I was thinking the same and took the effort of checking it. Wikipedia says: Frazey Ford is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She was a founding member of The Be Good Tanyas.
Is the singer from the ‘Be Good Tanyas’ in this band?
