I'm staying at a nice little hotel today and have heard "Jingle Bell Rock" three times while walking down various corridors. I can only imagine the brains of the people who are working here or mall shops for eight hours each day having to listen to the same songs over and over and over and over...
Honestly though, it is kinda the Santa Claus of music. I think so anyhow. I get lit up just thinking about it. All sugar plums and fairies.
Plus those little bells that jingle when I get too close to the fireplace.
Somewhat agree on the Santa Claus of music. Kinda into things that 'jingle.'
However, you've been early into the punch, haven't you?
There are those that believe there is a hierarchy here and tolerance of newcomers is extremely limited.
Reminded me of the early days when I would attempt to engage and some folks believed this entire Forum was their personal Lunch Table at school.
This is a Listener Supported Radio Station. Not the Santa Claus of Music. It is one of the most top notch, technically savvy, incredibly eclectic music menus I can't get elsewhere.
Can I get a Hallelujer?
What? No fruits and nuts and candies?

There is a lot of dedication, hard work and love in it. Like Buddy often says, "Remember, it's about the Music."
I haven't moved towards suet/tallow yet, although I see it mentioned sometimes.
I still have a jones for McDonald's fries in tallow. Some sort of study with twenty-somethings that had never had them did a fries taste test with tallow and two other fats and they lit up and were unanimous that it was legendary.

tallow is not uncommon here, and it's pretty great. All things fried in moderation, but it is good, and at some butcher shops it is cheap too.
In this area fatback is commonly used with green beans, as well as other beans, greens, peas, even corn. When I first moved down here I didn't think I'd like it that much, but it's good, so I could see how bacon would work as well.

For less fat or grease, try smoked turkey wings or necks. Fantastic flavor and a bit healthier. (Nasty woman nag, I know )
When I was living in Berkeley, my grandma sent me a box of Thanksgiving sidesâcorn, green beans, cranberry sauce, all homemade in glass jars, with a recipe on the lid. The corn is for what we call scalloped corn, a casserole. The green beans had chopped mushrooms in them and the lid said to put in bacon and the Berkeley roommates all howled at the ridiculousness of that but I did it anyway. The vegetarians picked around the meat but admitted that the beans were wonderful. Bacon fat helps everything.

Sorry guys, Imma purist. Bacon is strictly for BLT's and Breakfast.
Buttah, salt and peppa is all my lil french cut greenies need.

Recreating our humble feast of a little boneless turkey roast, homemade mashed taters and fresh steamed green beans, I'll be counting my blessings for what still is, while seasoning the gravy with a few tears mourning what is gone.
Hang in there.
Life goes on... mostly.
Bacon helps with those green beans.
