I haven't accused anyone of gloating nor was I ever intending to do so.

All's I did is ask where's the party ?  Where is the joy and happiness that one would expect to be in abundant display ?

That this thread lay dormant for 6 days until I lit it up, I thought speaks weirdly at best.

I was genuinely surprised by a lack of any excitement or celebration.  So I asked about it.

Speaking for myself, I stayed away from this forum starting on Election Day or the day before. Since the results took so long to come in, I only checked the news sites 1x per day until my mom texted that Biden had won PA.

By that point, I'd kinda figured it out because people were yelling and dancing in the streets. Lots of car horns too. So the party was IRL not in this forum.

We all have lives outside this forum, Kurt. I got tired of coming here and seeing KK and other people yapping about Hunter Biden, the Red Wave, Trump's great record of accomplishment and other displays of idiotic BS. I'm betting we all needed a break.

Biden supporters are exhausted and relieved. There's a sense that the US has staved off another four years of viciousness, crazed incompetence and an attempt to rip out democracy in favor of narcissistic autocracy.

Is that party-time enough for you?

Sure, why not.

What prompted my post was those that were still here posting regularly were staying away from this thread and kept posting in the Trump and 2020 election threads, bashing Trump and company rather than coming in here to acknowledge a victory in the existing thread dedicated to the victor.

That was why I thought it to be very odd.

Whatever.  Time to move on.  You won.  Your guy is now in charge.  Hope he doesn't disappoint you.

You should ask your buddy KK for tips on concern trolling.

Some primo projection: "Perhaps y'all all are now investing your time in looking for the next thing to hate and destroy now that Trump is toast. Gotta feed that fire in the belly, eh ?"

So far, for such a victory, the celebration or lack thereof has been meek at best.

Hard to understand the lack of celebration for something that was fought for so hard in order to achieve a victory of this magnitude.

Perhaps y'all all are now investing your time in looking for the next thing to hate and destroy now that Trump is toast.  Gotta feed that fire in the belly, eh ?

Careful your hate is showing, not to mention your twisted logic.  Why is it that Trumpsters feel a need to call out for everyone that is not in their camp to react as they would in any instance?  This is lame.  I, for one am elated that your king has been voted out.  I don't need to gloat on a public forum.  I did enough dancing and drinking in real life, tyvm!

There was a lot of celebration Saturday on BLM Plaza. There were probably a few thousand who were jumping, dancing, drinking champagne. Quite a sight.

As for how things are going to be now? I'll let  Mitch McConnell answer that one.

Well said. Thank you!

During Trump's time in office, it often struck me that his strident supporters seemed willing to give up or renounce large chunks of established conventions and processes of our form of democracy for the sake of a "win." That kind of victory often took the form of Trump acting like a king or dictator, without regard for the Constitution or laws. His strident supporters seemed convinced that whatever Trump wanted to do was a good thing—perhaps because they thought the entire federal government was corrupt and beholden to special interests.

The problem with Trump's supporters giving him such free rein is that the federal government becomes Trump and Trump alone. You no longer have a democracy and you are certainly not on any road to reform democracy. Combine this lurch into autocracy with Trump's compulsion to lie, his supporters' gullibility, and Trump's habit of designating any opposition to him as "enemies" and "scum" and you have the makings of an American Hitler.

From what I can tell, people voted for Trump out of fear that they were losing out culturally and economically. That brings to mind Benjamin Franklin's statement:

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Trump's real success was to unite the Democrats. Under a MMP system, the Democrats would be close to devolving into a centrist party and a left-wing, if they hadn't already. It's going to be interesting to see how these tensions play out.  A two-party system really doesn't do these nuances justice.

let me say congrats to the biden supporters   {#Cheers}

a well funded hard fought campaign has paid off

what comes next? (just off the top of my brain box)

biden inc. won't be as good or as bad as advertised by energized partisans

hopefully he'll fall closer to the center and use some reasonable liberal policy guidelines

i think we're going to see a lot of politics as usual with some caveats (i expect borrowing and spending to remain strong)

some special interests/institutional players that more or less have capture, like the defense industry, etc. will prosper

maybe try to continue to loosen grip on occupational licensing  (or other regs/policies that free the masses up to create and produce)

a huge bright spot in all of this is that there seems to be a major rejection of really bad/harsh drug laws

our mass incarceration looks like it is in decline and with any luck this will accelerate

in any event i wish them luck

{#Good-vibes}
